Job description

An Air Conditioning Mechanic maintains, repairs, and commissions HVAC and refrigeration systems ranging from small units to 250-ton equipment, using digital controls, Building Automation Systems (BAS), and variable air systems throughout LAX. The role includes diagnosing and calibrating electrical and pneumatic controls, replacing defective components, and handling refrigerants in compliance with EPA standards. The mechanic oversees construction and installation of mechanical systems to ensure adherence to LAWA and LADBS specifications, reviews new construction for compliance, and documents maintenance activities and reports in Maximo. Additional responsibilities include attending and providing training, maintaining systems during activation and warranty periods, and performing other related duties as required.
Three (3) Positions | Various Shifts

REQUIREMENTS / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a refrigeration and air conditioning fitter; or
Six (6) years of full-time paid experience installing, modifying, maintaining and repairing air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, ventilating and related equipment.
Completion of 12 semester or 18 quarter units in Air Conditioning Technology, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics or Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology from an accredited college or trade school may be substituted for each year of the experience lacking specified in Requirement #2, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
The selected candidate must be able to meet LAWA's badge requirements, possess and maintain a valid CA Driver's License and be able to operate a City vehicle at all times during employment.
