Description
SALARY RANGE: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
In determining compensation, various factors will be considered, including but not limited to, educational background; relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, market factors; and geographic location.
GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs application and removal of various paint coatings on ships and non-nuclear components, interior/exterior surface ships preservation per NAVSEA Standard Item (009-32).
LOCATION: Norfolk, VA
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Properly handle and utilize hazardous materials/solvents, including but not limited to, toxic and non-toxic painting materials, select proper protection required when applying, removing, and properly disposing of hazardous waste generated.
  • Apply and remove various paint coatings on ships and non-nuclear components, interior/exterior surface ships preservation per NAVSEA Standard Item (009-32).
  • Prepare and mask surfaces for preservation.
  • Ensure general housekeeping (GHK) is accomplished as needed per shift.

EDUCATION:
  • Must be a graduate with a high school diploma or GED equivalence.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in marine coatings and/or combination of marine and industrial coatings field. C12, C7, C14 or NBPI certification preferred.
  • Must have the ability to carry out written or oral instructions and analytical skills to resolve issues.
  • Must be able to use all abrasive blasts systems, spray booth, air compressor, forklifts, man lifts boom type and scissor and some Q.C. test instruments.
  • Must be able to work effectively with others.
  • Must be steady, reliable worker
