Job Overview
Are you a sports fan? Are you interested in being a part of a vibrant community recreation department? If so The Town of Fuquay-Varina is seeking applicants for the position of Athletic Aide I (Scorekeeper) ($12.00-$15.00), Athletic Aide II (Senior Scorekeeper) ($15.00-$18.75)-DOQ (Depends on Qualifications).
Athletic Aide I:Some experience in community or group recreation in athletics, as an administrator, coach, scorekeeper, or participant.
Athletic Aide II: Requires experience in score keeping for baseball, softball, volleyball, and/or basketball. Requires some experience in community sports activities. Some supervisory experience in community or group recreation activities in athletics preferred.
This position has been identified as a role that requires a North Carolina SBI criminal history record check based on responsibilities involving work with individuals under 18 years of age. The results of this record check will be used in the hiring decision for this position.
Essential Duties and Tasks
AAI-
  • Score-keeping youth and adult league games.
  • Handling public inquiries and maintaining a clean and safe facility.
  • Identifies unsafe situations and work hazards, corrects them if possible, and reports them to supervisor.
  • Carries out job duties in a safe manner in accordance with department and Town policies and procedures.
  • Helps setup and take down of equipment for games.
AAII-
  • Keeps score for youth sports leagues, keeping a scorebook and running a scoreboard.
  • Serves as the senior scorekeeper when paired with an Athletic Aide I, handling difficult situations in the absence of Athletic Aide III.
  • Assists in setting up gyms and fields for league play.
  • Fills out accident report forms and incident report forms.
  • Fills out results forms and playing time sheets.
  • Communicates issues and problems to Athletic Aide III's, full-time Athletic staff, and emergency personnel.
  • Enforces Town of Fuquay-Varina policies.
  • Provides routine information on departmental policies, procedures, and services.
  • Performs other job-related tasks as required.
