Job description

About the Role:

Shape the Future of Public Accounting

At AICPA & CIMA, we are committed to advancing the accounting and finance profession and helping firms navigate a rapidly evolving business landscape.

We are seeking a strategic, relationship-driven leader to serve as Director, Firm Services. This role leads engagement across public accounting firm segments and other key stakeholder groups while helping shape the future of firm practice management, member growth, and strategic initiatives across the Association.

If you thrive on building executive relationships, translating market intelligence into strategy, and driving meaningful outcomes for firms and the profession, we encourage you to apply.

You will lead a small team and report to the VP - Firm Services; you will have a hybrid work schedule.

You Will:

  • Lead the Association's strategy development for engagement with the mid-sized US CPA firm's segment. Identify opportunities to enhance revenue opportunities and lead strategic recruitment of firms to the group for membership growth. Enhance value proposition to firms and support important AICPA programs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to firm leaders, bringing market insights and emerging trends into Association strategy and priorities.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with leaders of mid-sized firms to advance engagement, participation, and growth.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the financial and operational performance of the Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS), including budgeting, revenue management, member growth, and retention initiatives.
  • Partner across the AICPA, CPA.com, volunteer leadership groups, and external stakeholders to advance key profession initiatives.
  • Guide the development of resources, programs, and thought leadership that help firms address evolving practice management challenges and opportunities.
  • Represent the AICPA through speaking engagements, industry events, podcasts, and other channels that elevate the voice of the profession.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team committed to service excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead direct reports by setting clear direction for team performance. Develop staff by coaching, setting priorities, and driving execution against defined goals.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across public accounting firm segments and stakeholder groups.
  • Identify emerging trends and translate them into actionable strategies that create value for members and the AICPA.
  • Drive measurable growth in engagement, participation, revenue, and member retention.
  • Influence cross-functional initiatives and serve as a respected voice within the profession.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and high performance.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of public accounting while working directly with some of the profession's most influential firms and leaders. You'll help shape profession conversations, guide strategic initiatives, and develop solutions that enable firms to thrive in an environment defined by transformation, talent challenges, technology innovation, and changing client expectations.

Join us in advancing the profession and creating lasting value for public accounting firms and the stakeholders who support them.

You Have:

  • 8 years' experience in a CPA or professional services firm; or a Firm Administrator working at a CPA firm. We will take relevant experience at the Association or a State CPA Society into consideration as an alternative to work in a professional services firm.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CPA designation

How We Support You:

We provide flexibility to help you achieve a good work-life balance. You'll be part of a global, diverse team who foster an environment of inclusion and belonging where you are valued for who you are and where you come from.

We offer benefit options in and out of the workplace, including healthcare, retirement, paid time-off, parental leave, an employee assistance program. We provide resources that support your mental health, and evolve our offerings to meet your needs. We care about our employees' welfare and focus our benefits package on the benefits which support your wellbeing. We also recognize that everyone has different priorities, so in addition to our core benefits to support your health we offer flexible options for you to choose benefits that are right for you, your family and your lifestyle.

We believe in non-stop learning and are committed to investing in learning opportunities that help you reach your full potential and support your continued development.
