Job description

Join a team that's been independent and growing for 125 years.
We're looking for a Commercial Lines Account Manager to join our team and manage a book of select business unit (SBU) accounts. If you want direct access to leadership, room to grow into new responsibilities, and a team that actually has your back when things get busy, we'd love to talk.
As a Commercial Lines Account Manager (SBU), you'll serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of small business commercial insurance accounts. You'll manage renewals, negotiate with carriers, analyze risk exposures, and recommend coverage tailored to each client's business. Acting as a trusted advisor rather than just a policy processor, you'll help drive client satisfaction, retention, and growth through proactive service and smart, timely recommendations working closely with producers, underwriters, and the rest of our internal team to get it done.
Deland, Gibson is a fourth-generation, family-owned independent insurance agency that has served businesses and families across Massachusetts and New England since 1900. Our Franklin office, Keefe Insurance, brings the same local, relationship-first approach to clients in Franklin, MetroWest, and surrounding communities. We do not answer to outside shareholders- we answer to our clients and one another, and that independence guides how we work, grow, and support our people.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage a book of primarily SBU commercial accounts, advising clients on coverages and risk-reduction strategies
  • Work closely with producers, internal teams, and carrier partners to deliver coverage that fits
  • Handle policy changes and coverage questions, staying current on rates, forms, and carrier guidelines
  • Maintain a high level of communication and build genuine, lasting relationships with clients
  • Accurately input and maintain client data in our agency management system
  • Monitor the full policy life cycle for your book, catching issues and renewal opportunities early
  • Support the agency's mission, values, and strategic initiatives as part of a close-knit team
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 3+ years of Commercial Lines Account Management
  • Active Massachusetts Property amp; Casualty license
  • Experience in risk assessment, policy analysis, coverage placement, and collaborating with carriers to secure competitive terms and comprehensive protection for clients across a variety of industries
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships, provide strategic insurance solutions, coordinate renewals, market coverage programs, and ensure exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering tailored insurance solutions that support clients' business objectives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Applied Epic is a plus
WHY DELAND, GIBSON
We're early adopters of new technology and AI-driven tools, but we're also the agency where a real person picks up the phone when a client calls- we believe both matter. Good ideas don't get lost here: when you see a smarter way to manage renewals or serve a client, we listen, and if it works, it becomes how we do business. You'll have direct access to agency leadership, real opportunities to grow into new responsibilities, and a team that shows up for each other- not because they have to, but because that's how we work.
BENEFITS
  • Hybrid schedule option, plus Summer Fridays and extended holiday weekends
  • Comprehensive PTO - paid vacation, holidays, and sick time, plus parental leave
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan
  • DG University: ongoing training, support for insurance designations, and continuing education
  • Employee-led committees- Giving, Social, Client Experience, amp; Technology
WORK ENVIRONMENT amp; PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position operates in a professional office environment at our Franklin location and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, tablets, phones, and multi-function printers. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or listen; frequently stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time; frequently use hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment; and reach with hands and arms. This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
