Job description

Actuate Insurance (AI) has served thousands of clients since 1993 across 20+ products, concentrated in medical malpractice, all lines of commercial insurance, and health insurance for physicians and healthcare entities in New England. Recently, weโ€™ve also added Life, Disability, Long Term Care, and Personal Lines insurance solutions. As a subsidiary of the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS), AI serves to meet the needs of physicians and support society members. AI is proud of its personalized service, which results in high satisfaction and requests for more product offerings amongst AIโ€™s customer base. Our clients stay with us for many years thanks to the value we offer through activities such as pre-underwriting, expert policy and liability reviews, and creative risk resolution and coverage optimization, in addition to advocacy on pricing and document support.

We are seeking an experienced, client-focused Insurance Broker to join our team, helping to uphold our reputation for exceptional customer service while contributing to our growth. The Insurance Producer/Broker will collaborate closely with the entire team to service new clients, identify their needs, and make impactful recommendations that enhance our relationships and service offerings. The ideal candidate will be a proactive professional with excellent communication and negotiation skills, possessing a growing understanding of the insurance industry and AIโ€™s product portfolio. Your expertise will be crucial in driving revenue growth through strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Meet or exceed individual revenue goals on an annualized basis aligned with our companywide targets, focusing on healthcare providers, medical groups, and broader related markets.
  2. Proactively engage with prospective clients, in collaboration with the entire team, to understand their evolving needs and partner on new business opportunities, uncovering cross-sell and up-sell potential.
  3. Generate detailed proposal comparisons using internal systems and carrier portals, negotiating competitive premiums with carriers to maintain client satisfaction while achieving revenue targets.
  4. Build strong relationships with clients through high levels of interaction during onboarding to establish long-lasting partnerships, reducing churn and increasing customer lifetime value.
  5. Effectively delegate and communicate tasks to Customer Support Representatives (CSRs) to ensure smooth operations and allow you to focus on revenue-generating activities.
  6. Provide ongoing personalized support and strategic advice to clients to meet their needs and achieve revenue and retention targets.
  7. Coordinate with MMS's finance team to ensure accurate and efficient billing and reporting processes, swiftly resolving any discrepancies.
  8. Proactively reach out to clients ahead of renewal dates, assess their changing needs, and adjust coverage to provide tailored solutions.
  9. Create comprehensive plan comparisons for renewals, highlighting the value of our full product range, recommending optimal coverage options and carriers, and evaluating up-sell and cross-sell opportunities to increase revenue.
  10. Stay informed about industry trends, new products, and regulatory changes through engagement with carriers and ongoing education to provide valuable insights to clients and leadership.
  11. Maintain detailed records of client interactions, policy information, and service requests in our CRM system, enhancing operational efficiency and providing valuable data for strategic decision-making.
  12. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred; equivalent industry experience considered
  • A Massachusetts, Property and Casualty insurance license will be required within 90 days if not already attained.  A Massachusetts Life, Accident & Health License will be required within an agreed upon period and a thorough understanding of the related products is essential.  Insurance Designations(e.g., RPLU, CPCU, ARM, CIC ) are a plus. Strong understanding of various insurance products, risk management strategies, and the ability to conduct market and customer analysis are critical.
  • Proven track record of managing a book of business worth a minimum of $600,000 revenue, and meeting or exceeding all sales targets through new client development, appropriate upselling, and cross-selling.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain long-term client and team relationships
  • Proficiency in agency management and CRM systems; familiarity with Applied Epic is a plus
  • Strong negotiation and client support skills and the ability to explain complex insurance concepts in a way that is digestible and easily understandable to clients
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with a team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Insurance Operations

Benefits:

Our generous benefits offerings include: 3 weeks of paid vacation, 6 personal days, 12 sick days, 13 paid holidays, medical and dental plans, 401(k) plans with company match, back-up childcare assistance, tuition assistance and more!
