Maintenance Technician (Mechanical/Electrical) Portage, IN | $30–$40/hour | All Shifts Available
OverviewJoin a growing food manufacturing company as a Maintenance Technician supporting high-speed packaging and processing equipment in a clean, temperature-controlled facility. This role is primarily mechanical (70%) with electrical work (30%), requiring strong troubleshooting and preventative maintenance experience.
Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance on packaging equipment including conveyors, baggers, labelers, mixers, X-ray machines, and shrink equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues (up to 480V)
- Diagnose and repair VFDs, PLCs (I/O), and HMI systems
- Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Troubleshoot sensors and photo eyes
- Complete MIG/TIG welding and basic fabrication
- Document work in MRP/CMMS systems
- Collaborate with production to reduce downtime and improve performance
- Follow GMP and safety standards
Qualifications- 5+ years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing, packaging, or similar
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs, HMI systems, and 480V equipment
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and sensors
- Welding (MIG/TIG) experience preferred
- Experience in GMP environments
