Job description
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Number: 202500735
Area: Provost
Department: Center for Digital & Extended Learning
Opening Date: 08/07/2026
Summary
Taylor's mission is to develop servant-leaders marked with a passion to minister Christ's redemptive love, grace, and truth to a world in need. As a community, Taylor faculty, staff, and students commit to living out Christ's love and truth in the here and now. We worship together, serve one another, and grow in faith as we learn in the classroom, on the field, at chapel, and anywhere else we're doing Life Together.
As Taylor advances its work in artificial intelligence, the university seeks to engage emerging technologies with wisdom, humility, creativity, and fidelity to its mission. The Director of AI Strategy & Implementation will play a key role in helping Taylor model a thoughtful, faithful, and educationally responsible approach to AI in Christian higher education.
Taylor University seeks a highly collaborative, mission-aligned, and strategically minded Director of AI Strategy & Implementation to provide leadership for the implementation of major university-wide artificial intelligence initiatives. This full-time, grant-funded position is anticipated to begin January 1, 2027, dependent on grant funding, and will be housed within Taylor's Center for Digital & Extended Learning (CDEL).
The Director of AI Strategy & Implementation will report to the Executive Director of CDEL and will serve as a central leader in coordinating Taylor's AI implementation efforts across academic programs, faculty development, AI literacy, course redesign, applied learning, external partnerships, and institutional adoption. This role is responsible for strategic implementation, cross-functional coordination, assessment, reporting, and mission alignment for the grant.
Taylor's AI implementation initiatives are designed to help the university move from planning to sustained, missionally grounded integration of AI in teaching, learning, and institutional life. The Director will work closely with faculty, academic leaders, CDEL staff, the Bedi Center for Teaching & Learning Excellence (BCTLE), Information Technology, students, and external partners to ensure that AI adoption strengthens student learning, supports whole-person formation, reduces instructional fragmentation, and prepares graduates to serve faithfully and effectively in an AI-shaped world.
The successful candidate will bring strong project leadership, organizational change, communication, and collaboration skills, along with a demonstrated commitment to Christian higher education and Taylor University's Christ-centered mission.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Collaborate with grant-funded personnel, including the AI Instructional Designer, AI Special Projects Coordinator, Professor of the Practice, and other project contributors.
- Facilitate implementation meetings, guide cross-functional collaboration, and cultivate shared ownership of AI initiatives across the university.
- Promote a culture of innovation, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with faculty, academic leaders, the BCTLE, and instructional design staff to coordinate AI-related professional development, workshops, consultations, and course redesign initiatives.

- Promote shared instructional frameworks, resources, and best practices that strengthen student learning and establish consistent expectations for AI use.
- Lead campus-wide initiatives that strengthen AI literacy and competency among faculty, staff, and students.
- Coordinate training, documentation, communication resources, and support strategies that encourage responsible and effective AI use across teaching, scholarship, and university operations.
- Guide implementation of Taylor University's institutional AI syllabus statement and related faculty guidance, ensuring consistent communication of expectations for AI use.
- Support student understanding of AI's opportunities, limitations, and ethical implications, including academic integrity, privacy, bias, and human agency.
- Monitor progress toward grant objectives and coordinate the collection of assessment data, participation metrics, project outcomes, and required documentation.
- Prepare reports for grant leadership, senior administration, and external stakeholders while supporting budget monitoring, institutional assessment, and long-term sustainability planning.
- Promote continuous improvement by evaluating implementation outcomes and recommending adjustments that strengthen long-term institutional impact.
- Advance a distinctly Christian approach to AI that upholds human dignity, academic integrity, relational teaching, intellectual rigor, and faithful stewardship of emerging technologies.
- Engage faculty, staff, and students in thoughtful reflection on AI's impact on learning, vocation, creativity, work, and society.
- Champion AI implementation that strengthens Taylor University's mission, supports whole-person education, and equips graduates to lead with wisdom, discernment, and service in an AI-enabled world.
