Job Description: IS4S is seeking an AI Engineer in Auburn, AL with specialization in agentic and generative Artificial Intelligence. Join a team that is expanding the capabilities is the US Armed through a multi-disciplinary approach to overcome real-world problems and limitations impacting today's soldier. Job activities will include the following:
• Leading, designing, building, and maintaining innovative AI-powered solutions that facilitate rapid understanding and decision making
• Implementing of AI safety tools such as model catalogs, metadata registries, and monitoring systems for bias, drift, and performance
• Identifying how and where AI agents can enhance systems and their usability, and developing the agents, and integrating them within the larger software system
• Identifying where generative AI can enhance the solution
• Support development, integration, and testing of command and control functions
• Enabling rapid associations, correlations, and aggregations of data within large datasets
• Contribute to multi-discipline reviews and discussions supporting AI practices and solutions
• Promoting responsible AI implementation through tools, documentation, and knowledge sharing
• Work within a dynamic team, diving deep into your area of expertise while broadening skillsets through interactions with teammates and stakeholders
• Support testing, integration, and deployment while incorporating feedback from end users
The challenges facing our nation are constantly evolving. Therefore, we are looking for self-driven team members willing and able to constantly learn, adapt, and find ways to develop and integrate solutions. Selected applicants will be expected to gain familiarity with the underlying domain (e.g., EW, Fires, PNT) and its role in the larger system of systems to incorporate warfighter needs throughout the solution. They will be given freedom to solve problems and develop solutions with the expectation of owning their tasks and responsibilities. They will also integrate into an existing team that provides support and to ensure designs and solutions conform to and enhance the end product.
Required Abilities, Experience, and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, computer science, or related technical field (for full-time applicants)
• Experience with programming languages (e.g. Go, C++), build tools, and IDEs (e.g., JetBrains suite, VSCode)
• Understanding of responsible and ethical AI use
• Understanding of LLM behavior, memory architectures, retrieval systems, system and agent limits, and design trade-offs
• Experience developing AI solutions, especially agentic AI solutions
• Ability to communicate to teammates and stakeholders when AI solutions are appropriate and when other approaches should be taken
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage tasks with minimal direction
• Must be able to travel to support customer engagements, integration and testing in live environments, occasionally working non-standard hours to match exercise schedules
• Must be able to lift and carry computing and networking equipment in support of transit and installation
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must have an active or be eligible for a US Government clearance
• US Citizenship is required

• Master's degree (or in pursuit of a master's degree) Computer Science, Data Engineering, or AI
• 5+ years' experience developing and deploying AI solutions including direct experience with generative AI and agentic AI

• Experience integrating AI with REST/GraphQL APIs, databases, message busses, and event driven or microservices architectures
