Job description

About HumanSignal

Real-world data is the competitive edge in AI.

HumanSignal is a human data partner for companies building AI models and products. Our customers ship better AI, faster, because we partner with their researchers from real-world data creation to annotation to delivery.

We design and create datasets from scratch, recruit and manage the domain experts who evaluate model output, and run everything through our own platform, Label Studio, the open-source standard for data labeling and evaluation, used by over 1 million practitioners worldwide.

We specialize in the operationally complex: real-world data collection, multimodal pipelines, and multi-step workflows. Advanced ML and AI teams use our enterprise platform to run their own data factories, and our services team to extend their reach where in-house capacity runs out.

If you want to do work that materially shapes how the next generation of AI products gets built, we'd love to talk.

Paid Improv Performers and Voice Actors – AI Training Sessions – $50/hr
  • Location: Columbus, OH (Discovery District, E Gay Street studio). On-site.
  • Employment type: Temporary / Recurring gig work (shifts available all summer)
  • Compensation: $50 per hour, 4-hour sessions ($200 per session)

Get paid $200 per four-hour session performing unscripted, improv-style scenarios at our downtown Columbus studio. HumanSignal is recruiting improv performers, voice actors, and live entertainers for on-camera recording sessions that train consumer AI devices to understand natural human behavior. If you can hold a scene, think on your feet, and move and talk naturally without a script, you can do this work.

Compensation and logistics
  • Pay: $50 per hour in 4-hour sessions, paid same day. Rates are flexible upward for performers with significant improv, voice, or stage experience.
  • Time: 4-hour shifts. Book one session or work recurring shifts through the summer. Repeat performers are welcome and prioritized for scheduling.
  • Location: Discovery District, Columbus, OH. The exact address is confirmed when your session is scheduled.
  • Dates: Sessions start the week of July 27 and through September 2026. Both weekday and weekend slots available.
  • Referral bonus: Refer a performer who successfully completes a session and earn $100. No limit on referrals.
What you will do
  • Perform unscripted, improv-style scenarios of everyday household activities: cooking, tidying, folding laundry, and similar tasks in a staged home environment.
  • Interact conversationally with a voice assistant while you work through each scenario. Natural, spontaneous dialogue is the core of the job.
  • Bring the skills you already have. Improvisation, character work, and comfort performing without a script are exactly what we are hiring for.
Who we are looking for
  • Age 18 or older, located in or near Columbus, Ohio.
  • Improv training or performance experience at any level: classes, student troupes, community theatre, open mics, voice work, or live entertainment. Aspiring and amateur performers are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable being recorded on camera and audio for a full session.
  • Reliable and able to arrive on time for scheduled shifts.

We welcome performers of all backgrounds and experience levels. A wide range of voices, speech patterns, and physical presence makes the resulting AI more representative of the real world.

What this work is, and what it is not

The footage from your sessions is used as training data for consumer AI devices. It is not used to clone anyone's face or voice or generate synthetic media of you. Before any recording, you review and sign a plain-language agreement that states exactly how the material is used, and you can ask us anything about it before you commit.

How your data is handled

Recordings are used only for AI research and training. They are not shared publicly and are not used for advertising or any other commercial purpose. Consent, transparency, and respect guide how we collect and store this material.

How it works
  1. Apply with your name, email, phone number, and a link to sample work. It takes about two minutes: https://go.humansignal.com/columbus20
  2. We reach out to confirm your first session and send location details.
  3. Perform your session and receive payment the same day. Book more shifts if you want them.
