Proofreader/Copyeditor

The Cognizant global in-house brand and creative team concepts, builds and delivers marketing and campaign content, including integrated support across multiple web properties, for the company's internal and external B2B campaigns. This 6-month role, with the potential of extension, is for an experienced (5+ years) proofreader/copyeditor who is adept at working online and with digital tools. You are passionate about your work, have a sense of humor, and understand the value of collaboration and teamwork. You are excited about the opportunity to solve problems to contribute to integrated campaigns, thought leadership content and brand-level communications. This role will report to Associate Director of Strategic Programs & Quality with close relationship to the in-house copy team.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional proofing/copyediting experience, agency experience a plus
  • Competence with Microsoft 360 applications, as well as Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well within tight deadlines and competing priorities in fast-paced collaborative team environment
  • A keen eye for detail and consistency, with an inherent drive for excellence
  • Able to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Able to work remotely—and at ease with same
  • Open to exploring generative AI tools
  • Familiarity with Adobe Workfront is a plus

Detailed job description:

Review a wide range of copy, everything from 60-character social media posts to web pages and 60-slide presentations. Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax errors. Contribute to clarity, flow and structure. Fact-check all copy. Check content against an in-house style guide and the AP Style Book. Understand and adhere to brand voice, tone and style. Handle multiple projects simultaneously and respect deadlines. Collaborate with copywriters to produce clear and grammatically correct copy that helps build audience confidence and trust. Communicate best practices to copywriters.
