What is an AI Chip Design RTL engineer?

AI Chip Design RTL (Register Transfer Level) engineers are specialists who design the digital logic for chips used in artificial intelligence applications. They use hardware description languages like Verilog or VHDL to create and validate the architecture and functionality of these chips before they are manufactured. Their work ensures that AI processors are efficient, high-performing, and meet the requirements of modern AI workloads. RTL engineers collaborate closely with verification, software, and hardware teams to optimize chip performance and power consumption.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an AI Chip Design RTL engineer?

To thrive as an AI Chip Design RTL Engineer, you need a solid background in digital design, computer architecture, and proficiency in Hardware Description Languages (HDLs) like Verilog or VHDL, often supported by a degree in electrical or computer engineering. Experience with simulation tools (e.g., ModelSim, Synopsys), ASIC/FPGA design flows, and relevant certifications are highly valued. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork and communication skills help you excel in collaborative and complex design environments. These competencies are crucial for creating efficient, reliable AI hardware that meets performance and power requirements in a fast-evolving field.

What are common challenges faced by AI Chip Design RTL engineers during the verification process?

AI Chip Design RTL engineers often encounter challenges in ensuring their designs meet complex functional and performance requirements, especially given the rapid pace of AI hardware advancements. Verification can be particularly demanding due to the need to simulate and test intricate AI workloads, manage large datasets, and debug subtle timing or logic errors. Collaboration with verification teams, system architects, and software engineers is essential to address these issues efficiently and to ensure seamless integration of the RTL code into the broader chip design. Staying up-to-date with the latest verification tools and methodologies is also crucial for success in this role.

What is the difference between Ai Chip Design Rtl vs Ai Chip Verification Engineer?

AspectAi Chip Design RtlAi Chip Verification Engineer

Job description

About Lantern
Lantern is the specialty care platform connecting people with the best care when they need it most. By curating a Network of Excellence comprised of the nation's top specialists for surgery, cancer care, infusions and more, Lantern delivers excellent care with significant cost savings to employers and their workforces. Lantern also pairs members with a dedicated care team, including Care Advocates and nurses, for the entirety of their care journey, helping them get back to good health, back to their families and back to work. With convenient access to specialists nationwide, Lantern means quality care is within driving distance for most. Lantern is trusted by the nation's largest employers to deliver care to more than 6 million members across the country. Learn more about us at lanterncare.com.
About the Team:
Commercial Strategy & Operations ("CSO") - Lantern's Revenue Operations team - supports the President and the broader go-to-market function, including Employer Sales, Employer Client Success, Marketing, Clinical, and Partnerships. CSO owns Commercial strategy, planning, insights, process, tools, and data across the organization.
This role sits within CSO and serves all of Commercial at a pivotal moment: AI is transforming how work gets done, and you'll be at the center of that shift for a fast-growing, ambitious organization where every team is eager for someone with your skill set to change how they work.
Senior Lead, AI Automation:
Reporting to the VP of Commercial Strategy & Operations, the GTM AI Automation Lead makes Commercial measurably more efficient by embedding within teams, identifying the highest-friction manual work, and building AI solutions (Claude, Claude Code, n8n, Power Automate, etc.) that fix the root cause - not just the symptom. You'll own each solution end to end: discovery, design, build, rollout, training, and adoption.
You'll work across all of Commercial, partnering with the Commercial Leadership Team to prioritize the highest-leverage opportunities, and serve as Lantern's AI thought leader for Commercial - driving org-wide AI fluency through hands-on enablement.
Ultimately, this role directly impacts Lantern's ability to deliver care to members, win blue-chip employer clients, and scale a world-class Commercial function.
Responsibilities:
Embed within Commercial teams to run deep discovery and root-cause analysis - mapping how work actually gets done, asking probing questions, and identifying the highest-leverage friction worth solving
  • Design and build AI solutions that resolve the root cause, rather than bolting automation onto a broken process
  • Own solutions end to end: build, deploy into hosted environments, roll out, train users, and drive adoption until teams are measurably working better
  • Lift Commercial-wide AI confidence and fluency through horizontal enablement - prompt engineering best practices, Cowork setup, and capturing reusable best practices into Lantern's enterprise-wide AI Hub
  • Facilitate hackathons that bring full teams together to generate ideas, experiment, and build working prototypes
  • Build a durable working relationship with Engineering, primarily the GTM Systems team, with an agreed way of collaborating - intake, hand-off, and build ownership - that holds across projects
  • Build and maintain a prioritized roadmap that sequences work effectively, delivers on commitments, and is communicated regularly to all impacted Commercial teams

What You Will Bring:
  • 6-12+ years of experience in Revenue Operations, Solutions Engineering, Software Engineering, or Product Management, with a track record of teaching yourself AI and applying it at a high-growth company
  • Expert with Claude Code, with hands-on experience using AI tools to build, prototype, and deploy real, shipped solutions into hosted environments - with demonstrated adoption and satisfaction from real users, not side projects
  • Tool fluency across the AI and automation stack: 1-3 years of experience with Clay, Microsoft Copilot, n8n or Microsoft Power Automate, Databricks or similar, Salesforce, and Excel/Sheets
  • Strong discovery and root-cause skills - deeply curious and structured in understanding current state and identifying problem areas ripe for countermeasures
  • Process design instinct: redesigns the workflow so the tool fits how teams actually work, designing the tool and process together rather than bolting one onto the other
  • Thrives in a high-growth, chaotic environment - tough, gritty, and able to get things done under intensity and competing priorities

Bonus if you have:
  • Training, enablement, and change management experience, with a personal drive to own adoption rather than hand it off - selling the solution in, documentation, office hours, re-training, and the change management around it
  • An experimentation and rapid-iteration mindset: tinkers with new tools, picks things up quickly, fails ft, learns, and iterates
  • Previous experience in digital health point solutions or the broader healthcare industry

Benefits:
  • Medical Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Short & Long Term Disability
  • Life Insurance
  • 401k with company match
  • Paid Time Off
  • Paid Parental Leave

Compensation: $150,000 - $190,000 base pay + annual bonus (depends on location/level/relevant experience)
About You:
  • You use LOGIC in your decision making and understand that progress is critical to making change. You focus on the execution of your content while balancing a fast-paced environment and you take the time to celebrate both the small & big wins.
  • INCLUSION is a core tenant of your personal beliefs. A diverse and inclusive environment is incredibly important to you. You understand and desire to be a part of a diverse team with different experiences and perspectives & you cherish the differences in each individual that you interact with.
  • You have the GRIT, drive and ambition to tackle big problems. Big problems require big ideas and a team that supports new ideas.
  • You care deeply for your customers are driven to keep HUMANITY in all decisions. Your customers aren't just the individuals using your product. They are the driving factor in your motivation to make a change.
  • Integrity guides you in life. Focusing on the TRUTH vs. giving people the answers they want to hear.
