Primary Purpose
Coordinate the orientation and placement testing of students in the Adult Basic Education (ABE), English Language Acquisition (ELA), Adult High School (AHS), and High School Equivalency (HSE) programs to ensure compliance with local and state policy, and the federal Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). Promote the philosophy, mission, and goals of the Transitional Programs for College & Career, Workforce Continuing Education, and Wayne Community College.
Position Duties
• Conduct orientation and placement testing for students in the ABE, AHS, HSE, and ELA programs,
• Assist with record keeping and documentation for all campus and off campus classes.
• Administer Locater, Pre and Post Test for Adult Basic Assessment (TABE) tests.
• Input TABE pre and post tests results and Literacy Education Information System (LEIS0 data for campus ABE, HSE, AHS classes.
• Assess students at off campus sites including prison facilities: Neuse Correctional Prison, Drug and Rehabilitation Treatment (DART) facility, and Winders Detention Center.
• Assist with monitoring student retention and follow up.
• Participate in the department internal auditing process.
• Assist with the implementation of graduation.
• Assist with departmental planning and on-going evaluation for program effectiveness.
• Serve as backup GED tester.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Student Support, Director of Transitional Programs for College & Career (TPCC), or Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services.
Position Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of three years of experience in data management and the use of educational assessment tools, including TABE and/or Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment Systems (CASAS).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
• Strong commitment to customer service.
• Ability to obtain Pearson VUE Test Administrator Certification within four months of hire.
• Ability to obtain TABE Certification within four months of hire.
• Valid North Carolina driver's license, or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
• Driving record must meet the requirements for insurability under Wayne Community College's automobile insurance policy.
Preferred Qualifications
• Notary Public certification.
• Experience with Ellucian Colleague and Advansys computer systems.
• National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC).
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or English and Haitian Creole
