Reports To: Residential President

Compensation Range: $210,000-$240,000 Annually


AVB is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Residential Operations or Operations Leader to lead the end-to-end delivery of our residential communities, from land development and infrastructure through home construction and homeowner service. This executive leadership role is responsible for building and optimizing a high-performing operation that consistently delivers exceptional homes, strong financial results, outstanding customer experiences, and scalable growth. As a key member of the Residential Leadership Team, you will align development, construction, procurement, project management, customer care, and operational strategy to achieve predictable and profitable results across multiple communities.

What You'll Be Responsible for


Residential Operations Leadership

  • Lead the complete lifecycle of residential community delivery, from site development through homeowner warranty and service.
  • Drive operational performance across land development, construction, project management, purchasing, and customer care.
  • Develop scalable systems, processes, and accountability structures that support continued growth.
  • Create alignment across Development, Sales & Marketing, Design, Finance, and HR.


Land Development & Infrastructure

  • Oversee infrastructure construction including utilities, roads, grading, stormwater systems, and site improvements.
  • Ensure lot development schedules support homebuilding production targets and community launch timelines.
  • Optimize sequencing, budgeting, and execution while maintaining safety and quality standards.


Construction Operations

  • Lead field operations for all residential construction activities.
  • Drive improvements in cycle time, productivity, quality, safety, and homeowner satisfaction.
  • Implement innovative construction methods, technologies, and best practices.
  • Ensure consistent execution of quality standards across all communities.


Project Management & Operational Excellence

  • Maintain portfolio-level visibility into key operational metrics, schedules, costs, capacity, and production performance.
  • Establish robust governance, reporting, and performance management systems.
  • Utilize Lean Construction and Continuous Improvement principles to increase efficiency and reduce waste.


Procurement & Supply Chain Strategy

  • Oversee estimating, purchasing, trade partner relationships, and sourcing strategies.
  • Develop cost-control initiatives that improve profitability while maintaining quality standards.
  • Lead capacity planning and vendor performance management efforts.


Customer Experience & Warranty Performance

  • Champion homeowner satisfaction throughout the customer journey.
  • Utilize warranty data and customer feedback to identify operational improvement opportunities.
  • Minimize post-close service exposure through disciplined quality controls and closeout processes.

What We're Looking For

 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field
  • 15+ years of residential construction, homebuilding, or residential operations experience
  • 10+ years leading multiple departments, functions, or business units
  • Experience overseeing multi-community production environments
  • Proven leadership of large teams, including 30+ direct and indirect reports
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, estimating, forecasting, and gross margin performance
  • Expertise in scheduling, procurement, risk management, and operational planning
  • Experience implementing Lean, Continuous Improvement, PMO, KPI, or Operational Excellence programs
