Veterinary Cancer & Surgery Specialists (VCSS), part of Animal Outpatient Specialty Network (AOSN), is looking for a dedicated Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our Oncology Team. We are a high-performing specialty practice where your skills will be utilized to their fullest potential.


The Role: In this position, you aren’t just “helping out” - you are a vital part of the medical team. You will work closely with our Board-Certified Oncologists to manage complex cases, administer life-saving treatments, and provide a bridge of communication between the doctor and the client. At VCSS you will be utilized in the full scope of your ability to practice and are integral to daily success. The Oncology CVT at VCSS communicates, facilitates, and advocates for their pet families and patients.


The CVT’s role supports VCSS’ mission to improve the veterinary landscape through a transformative approach to team health and happiness. At VCSS you will particiapte in a collaborative environment for your teammates, patients, and pet families by utilizing resources and support provided by administration. The VCSS Veterinary Technician provides team and patient care that exceeds industry standards.

Requirements:

We are looking for candidates who can bring enthusiasm, skill, and commitment to delivering the highest standard of patient care during critical points in our patient’s treatment journey. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Chemotherapy Administration: Safely handling, preparing, and administering chemotherapeutic agents following strict safety protocols
  • Advanced Nursing: Performing venipuncture, placing IV catheters, and monitoring anesthesia for biopsies or imaging.
  • Diagnostic Support: Assisting with diagnostic sample collection and processing
  • Client Advocacy: Educating owners on treatment side effects, quality-of-life assessments, and home care
  • Case Management: Maintaining detailed electronic medical records and managing pharmacy refills.

Pathway to Join Our Team:

  • Credentials: Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician in good standing.
  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience. While prior oncology experience is preferred, we are willing to train a high skilled CVT with a strong interest in the field.
  • Precision: A “check twice, cut once” mentality regarding medication safety and medical record documentation
  • Resilience: The ability to remain professional and supportive in an emotionally charged environment.

What You'll Be Doing: As a vital member of our oncology team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with and/or administer chemotherapy agents
  • Assist with and monitor anesthesia for Electrochemotherapy procedures
  • Maintain professionalism and treat all team members throughout the organization, as well as pet families with respect and kindness
  • Participate in admitting and discharging a diverse patient population while maintaining patient and personal safety
  • Examine and document vital signs and patient needs
  • Other duties as assigned
