Agent Apprentice information

What is an agent apprentice?

An Agent Apprentice is an entry-level professional who works under the supervision of a licensed agent, typically in fields like real estate, insurance, or talent representation. Their role involves learning the industry, assisting with day-to-day tasks, and gaining experience required to become a fully qualified agent. Apprenticeships often include a mix of training, shadowing, and hands-on work to help apprentices develop the necessary skills and knowledge. The position is ideal for individuals looking to start a career as a licensed agent in their chosen field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an agent apprentice, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Agent Apprentice, you need a basic understanding of the industry (such as real estate or insurance), organizational skills, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with CRM software, office productivity tools, and sometimes pre-licensing coursework or certifications can be required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn are soft skills that set top candidates apart. These skills and qualifications are vital for supporting licensed agents effectively and building a foundation for future advancement in the field.

What are some common challenges faced by an agent apprentice when transitioning from training to handling real client cases?

As an Agent Apprentice, one of the main challenges when moving from training to real client work is adapting theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. You'll need to quickly build confidence in your communication and negotiation skills while managing multiple client needs simultaneously. Additionally, learning to prioritize tasks and respond effectively under pressure are key for success. Support from mentors and regular feedback from experienced agents will help you overcome these hurdles and grow into a full-fledged agent.

The main difference lies in the stage of career development and specific training requirements.

AI Operations Intern

Apprenticely

Lowell, AR • On-site

Full-time, Part-time, Internship

Job description

Apprenticely is working with our company partner, Overroute to add a rotational AI Operations Engineer Intern to their team in Lowell, Arkansas!

Our Apprenticely Internship Program is a three-month program that places selected candidates with employers across Arkansas in IT positions to gain experience under the guidance of a professional mentor/IT support team. Internships are designed as an on-ramp to an IT career and can roll into full-time positions based on employer demand.

About Overroute:
Overroute is an AI-native freight operations platform, built out of a venture studio partnership with J.B. Hunt, one of the largest carriers in North America. Our agents are in production now: monitoring orders, scheduling deliveries, coordinating drivers, and resolving exceptions across a network that moves millions of loads a year. Interns work onsite at J.B. Hunt, directly with Overroute team members and next to the operators running it.

The Role & Rotational Structure

This is not a traditional internship with a pre-packaged summer project track. You will work directly on high-stakes, live workstreams across three core tracks:

1. Customer Success Track
  • Onboard, train, and enable 5 J.B. Hunt business units.

  • Triage incoming user feedback and track AI adoption unit-by-unit.

  • Perform quality assurance checks on agent output before it reaches live operators.

2. Product Track
  • Analyze user behavior and document real-world freight operations workflows.

  • Conduct user and competitive research.

  • Scenario-test new agentic AI capabilities prior to live enterprise rollout.

3. Forward Deployed Engineering Track
  • Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers on live production deployments.

  • Pull, clean, and validate live data feeds.

  • Execute integration and regression testing, and build internal tooling to eliminate manual overhead.

Who We Are Looking For:

We do not require a background in logistics. We hire students across Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Computer Science, and Engineering.

You will thrive here if you:
  • Are Process-Curious: You care about how things actually work in practice, not how they look on a slide deck. You have dug into a real process at a job, an internship, or a student org and can describe where it broke down.

  • Ask & Pursue: You are comfortable asking a basic question of an experienced operator and chasing it to the root cause. Tell us about a time the obvious question turned out to matter.

  • Communicate Clearly: You can explain a problem in writing, in a few sentences, to someone who was not in the room. Explaining what you found is half the job.

  • Thrive in Ambiguity: You have started something before anyone asked you to. Tell us what it was and how far you got.

  • Want Ownership: You have been the person responsible for something ending well, not just for finishing your own part of it.

  • AI-First Mindset: You have built something with AI tools, not just chatted with them. A prompt system, an automation, a script, a small agent. You can explain how it works and where it breaks.
Program Structure & Logistics
  • Location: Onsite in Northwest Arkansas at J.B. Hunt. Proximity to real operators is essential.
  • Mentorship: Matched with one Overroute owner with defined scope and weekly check-ins.

  • Schedule: Part-time during the academic year, full-time during summer.

$15 - $15 an hour
How does the interview process work? Apprenticely will conduct an initial phone interview and assessment. Apprenticely will send selected resumes to companies that match the candidate's skills and interests. Our employer partners will decide who to interview and select the final candidates for the internship program.
