Job description

Agency Manager — Liz Portee State Farm | West Columbia, SC
Are you a natural leader who loves managing people?
Liz Portee State Farm is looking for an experienced Agency Manager to lead our team’s day-to-day performance and operations.
This role is the go-to person for the team: the one they report to, bring problems to, and are held accountable by. You’ll drive coaching, performance, scheduling, and culture — keeping the office running smoothly day to day, working closely with the agency owner on direction and goals.
You’ll thrive here if you:
•Have real experience managing and leading a team — not just individually producing
•Are comfortable holding people accountable, giving feedback, and having tough conversations
•Communicate clearly and confidently, especially under pressure
•Are organized enough to keep multiple people and priorities on track at once
•Want to lead a team without needing to be the final decision-maker
What You’ll Do:
•Directly manage and supervise agency staff — coaching, performance, and day-to-day accountability
•Lead daily operations, sales, retention, and service to hit agency goals
•Track team performance and flag issues or opportunities to the agency owner
•Handle day-to-day escalations and solve problems as they come up
•Ensure the team follows agency processes, policies, and compliance standards
•Build a strong team culture that retains good employees
What You’ll Need:
•Proven leadership or supervisory experience (managing people, not just performing)
•Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills
•Ability to manage multiple people and priorities in a fast-paced environment
•Insurance, business, or client relations experience preferred
•Property & Casualty and Life & Health Producer licenses (must have or be willing to obtain immediately)
Great Backgrounds For This Role: Military Banking, call centers, financial services, insurance, sales, healthcare, hospitality/retail, teachers or mortgage lending — especially candidates who’ve run a team or office before.
What We Offer:
•Salary/commission structure
•Monthly Health Stipend
•Paid time off, including holidays
•A leadership role with real day-to-day impact
