The Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District (THPRD) is now accepting applications for THRIVE Afterschool Director. The THRIVE program serves approximately 100 students from the Beaverton School District in after school and before school programs.
The afterschool program strives to provide a fun and educational environment where children can develop talents and recognize their importance both individually and within their community. The mission at THRIVE is: to support and challenge students physically, mentally, and socially; to inspire creativity, imagination, and life-long learning; to provide an opportunity for kids to have fun, learn and express themselves through a variety of activities while maintaining a safe environment. The Director plays a key role in supervising staff, supporting families, coordinating daily operations, and fostering a positive experience for participants.
This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in youth development, recreation management, education, social services, or future leadership roles within parks and recreation. THRIVE Director Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To: Providing leadership for a dynamic afterschool program serving elementary-aged youth in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Planning, coordinating, supervising, and implementing daily recreation, enrichment, and educational activities that support youth development and learning.
Training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff to ensure consistent program quality and participant safety. Building positive relationships with participants, families, school staff, and community partners through professional and effective communication. Developing program curriculum, schedules, special events, field trips, and enrichment opportunities that align with program goals and participant interests.
Maintaining compliance with DHS child care regulations, licensing requirements, THPRD policies, and all safety procedures. Monitoring participant behavior, implementing behavior management strategies, and partnering with families and supervisors to support participant success. Maintaining program records, attendance, documentation, and other administrative responsibilities as required.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of participants and providing basic first aid and emergency response as needed. Schedule All positions are flexibly staffed, typically Monday - Friday, between 12:30pm - 6:00pm on school days and 7:30am - 6:00pm on no school days.
Part-time employees have variable schedules and may work less than 1,560 hours per year. Pay Rate $23.32 - $24.79 hourly The hiring rate range for this position is $23.32 to $24.79. The full hourly range for this job classification is $23.32 to $26.29
