Job description

3D Vision Robot Programmer โ€” Bin Picking Systems

Location: Orion, Michigan

Employment Type: Contract (Mid-July through December 2026)

Compensation: $33.00โ€“$40.00 per hour (commensurate with proven work history)

A day in the life

You arrive on site, open a fresh project in Photoneo, and start a careful handโ€“eye calibration. Bins and totes are staged; you tune localization profiles and run trials on real parts. Before lunch, youโ€™ve taught a safe start pose and a robust drop path, then switch over to Keyence to validate another 3D bin scenario. The afternoon is for logicโ€”crafting pick-to-Matrox sequences, flip/qualify checks, and bin empty/tote empty routinesโ€”followed by a quick Ethernet handshake test between the robot, vision controller, and the client/server. You wrap the day debugging with the PLC programmer, moving a cell from teach to fully automatic operation.

What youโ€™ll own
  • Vision systems integration (Photoneo, Keyence, Matrox): Configure and calibrate Photoneo and Keyence 3D bin picking environments; load Matrox 2D/3D projects, adjust camera parameters, and craft precise multi-face detection โ€œrecipes.โ€
  • Calibration & localization: Execute handโ€“eye calibration, scan EOAT, and establish accurate localization profiles for bins and totes.
  • Robot programming: Teach complex paths (rough approaches, start poses, drop and reject routines) and develop advanced logic, including pick-to-Matrox, flip/qualify, and empty-bin/tote sequences.
  • Integration & communications: Stand up reliable Ethernet communications among robots, vision controllers, and client/server architectures.
  • Hardware & commissioning: Commission robots end-to-end; install and configure Photoneo or Keyence vision cabinets; set up EOAT with MAGSWITCH magnetic grippers and suction cups; verify and test functions.
  • PLC collaboration: Partner with PLC engineers to troubleshoot interlocks and transition systems from manual teach to automatic mode.
  • Process & quality: Apply deep bin-picking expertiseโ€”file loading, simulation deliverables, and rough grasping methodsโ€”then fine-tune grasp strategies and localization for maximum reliability.
Must-have certifications and focus areas
  • GRS, MPS, DCS, Fall Protection
  • Specialized robot programming in Bin Picking and โ€œSeek C Findโ€
Core skills
  • Analyzing Test Information
  • Picker
  • Interpreting Test Information
  • Assembling Electrical Systems
  • Assembling Electronic Systems
How we work together

We value inventive thinking and strong communication. Youโ€™ll act as a connector across robotics, vision, and controlsโ€”anticipating issues, sharing insights, and delivering production-ready automation.
