About This Role

Join our dynamic Afterschool Program team as an Assistant, where you'll help create an engaging, interactive environment for students. As a vital part of our extended day experience, you'll collaborate with the Program Administrator to provide a safe, enriching space for learning and exploration. Students will enjoy tackling homework, discovering new hobbies, and building friendships in a technology-focused setting.


What You'll Do
  • Activity Engagement: Supervise groups of students during snack, play, and enrichment, ensuring a sense of belonging and stimulation.
  • Collaborative Learning: Assist in leading hands-on STEM projects, arts, and recreational activities that foster curiosity and excellence.
  • Behavior Support: Monitor student behavior and implement gentle, positive management strategies to encourage independence and a sense of belonging.
  • Team Partnership: Work closely with the Afterschool Administrator and staff to maintain a cohesive, organized, and inviting program space that parents trust.
  • Academic Support: Assist with homework sessions and "lightbulb moments" in learning, tailoring your support to meet individual student needs.
  • Program Operations: Manage smooth transitions, accurate check-in/dismissal procedures, and maintain the highest standards of health and safety.

Requirements
  • Essentials: First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) and the ability to pass all required background clearances.
  • Physical Readiness: Ability to stand, walk, and actively engage with children for extended periods, including lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Professional Competencies: Proactive self-starter who demonstrates a continuous growth mindset and a commitment to process improvement.
  • Skill Set: Basic knowledge of child development and a talent for classroom management through positive guidance.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with parents, children, and colleagues.
  • Heart & Soul: Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for engaging children in creative challenges and active movement.
  • Educational Background: High school diploma or GED required (Associate’s degree or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred)
  • Proven Track Record: Previous experience working with school-aged children in group settings (camps, tutoring, or afterschool programs) is strongly preferred.

Schedule:

  • Shift: Consistent afternoon coverage during afterschool hours, Monday through Friday
  • Availability: Full-time or Part-time options available; may include occasional academy events outside of regular hours.

Adaptability: Foundational knowledge of Montessori or STEAM educational frameworks, with a proven ability to adapt and excel in specialized learning environments is strongly preferred.
