Private Family in Vienna, VA Seeking a Part-Time Housekeeper / Family Assistant

Position: Part-Time Live-Out Housekeeper / Family Assistant

Schedule: MondayThursday, 9:00 AM5:00 PM (32 guaranteed hours per week)

Compensation: Starting at $35.50+ per hour, plus performance bonus. Compensation is negotiable for an exceptional candidate.

About the Family:
A warm and welcoming family in Vienna, VA is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Part-Time Housekeeper / Family Assistant to become a valued long-term member of their household. Their highest priority is finding an exceptional housekeeper who truly takes ownership of the home and maintains it to an impeccable standard. In addition to housekeeping, the role includes light family assistance such as school pickups, after-school support, and simple family meal preparation.

Additional Household Staff: A professional cleaning service deep cleans the home every two weeks, including showers, tubs, and all floors. This position focuses on maintaining the home's cleanliness and organization between those visits.

ResponsibilitiesHousekeeping & Home Maintenance

• Maintain the home to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness every day.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, countertops, and mirrors.
• Maintain commonly used downstairs living areas, including the kitchen, mudroom, foyer, and family living spaces.
• Thoroughly clean kitchen surfaces and appliances throughout the day.
• Unload and reload the dishwasher as needed.
• Empty trash throughout the home and promptly remove kitchen trash when full.
• Vacuum the mudroom at least twice daily and maintain high-traffic areas throughout the day.
• Properly care for hardwood floors by immediately drying any water after dishwashing or spills.
• Clean and maintain the refrigerator, stovetop, oven exterior, coffee maker, griddle, cutting boards, and other kitchen appliances.
• Monitor household supplies and notify the family before items run low.
• Keep bathrooms stocked with toilet paper and other essentials.

Laundry & Garment Care

• Manage all household laundry with meticulous attention to garment care.
• Follow detailed laundering procedures, including proper sorting by color and fabric type.
• Hang dry delicate clothing according to garment instructions.
• Iron dress shirts, polos, trousers, and other garments requiring pressing.
• Wash and maintain:
  • Household laundry daily/weekly
  • Bed linens weekly or bi-weekly
  • Comforter covers monthly
  • Bathroom mats monthly
  • Throw blankets monthly
  • Comforters and pillows every six months or as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized laundry room.
• Assist with seasonal clothing care, including washing and storing winter coats.

Organization Projects

• Continuously organize and maintain closets, cabinets, drawers, pantry, linen closets, laundry rooms, and storage areas.
• Keep children's closets neat, organized, and dust-free.
• Complete annual deep organization of kitchen cabinets, pantry, and laundry rooms.
• Help maintain an organized and efficient household overall.

Family Assistance

• Pick up the children from school and assist with afternoon carpooling between approximately 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM as needed.
• Help unload backpacks, clean lunch boxes, and wash water bottles after school.
• Occasionally remain later if one parent is traveling (flexibility appreciated but not required).
• Oversee cleanliness during furniture deliveries, handyman visits, and household projects by ensuring affected areas are cleaned once work is complete.

Grocery & Meal Preparation

• Pick up grocery orders as needed.
• Wash, cut, and prepare fresh fruit.
• Steam vegetables and prepare healthy lunch items.
• Prepare fresh salads and assist with food prep.
• Cook approximately five simple family dinners each week, including meals such as tacos, sheet pan dinners, chili, soups, spaghetti with meatballs, stir fry, and similar family-friendly dishes.

Weekly & Ongoing Household Tasks

• Organize recycling in the garage every Wednesday before Thursday trash pickup.
• Oil wooden cutting boards and maintain kitchen equipment.
• Refill coffee supplies and maintain the coffee station.
• Help rotate and vacuum mattresses periodically.
