About the role of the Business Analyst III
Help redefine how claims work gets done-at scale and with purpose. As a Business Analyst III, you'll assist in the design and operational delivery of automation and AI-enabled workflow solutions that replace manual, repetitive work with reliable digital decisioning. You'll partner across Product, Technology, and Configuration to build well-controlled process automations, performance dashboards, and data-driven improvements that shorten cycle times, strengthen accuracy, and elevate the member experience. The Business Analyst III is responsible for redesigning workflows rather than manually supporting inefficiencies; identifying opportunities to automate manual business analyst activities; define high-quality business requirements and acceptance criteria; conduct UAT and support production stabilization; and, operate within Claims Optimization rather than fragmented operational support.
What you'll do:
  • Translates ambiguous business needs into solid business and functional requirements for small to large projects with moderate complexity.
  • Effectively elicits information to create concise, organized Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and Functional Requirement Documents (FRD) using standard, industry recognized tools and best practices. Manages requirements across the lifecycle of a project to ensure end user satisfaction, business stakeholder buy-in, and scope integrity.
  • Identifies opportunities and contributes recommendations based on analysis of requirements and future impacts.
  • Partners with business unit and IT or other departments as needed to ensure successful implementation and ongoing business and / or systems support when appropriate.
  • Creates detailed Use Cases, User Stories and other documents to illustrate business needs.
  • Facilitate meetings and Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions in a positive way to drive cross functional stakeholders to reach agreements and effective solutions. Meetings may include leadership.
  • Conducts research and interviews subject matter experts to create "As-is" and "To-be" process flows. Apply critical thinking to evaluate cross functional dependencies, including upstream and downstream impacts.
  • Contributes to enhancements of Business Analysis best practices and suggestions for improvements.
  • Creates business facing test scenarios, test scripts/cases, and mockups of data necessary to conduct testing. Creates the traceability between requirements and scenarios to ensure business requirements are met. May monitor and report on testing activity and results.
  • Consults with others in the development of appropriate training materials to support the needs of functional areas.
  • May provide support to other entry and junior level Business Analysts.
  • May investigate and research system problems and enhancements, working collaboratively with IT and business stakeholders to identify options and provide business and / or technical solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree or four (4) years' work experience. (Required)
  • Three (3) years of analytical experience in a technical or business environment, including at least 2 years performing business analysis functions (gathering business requirements, documenting process/data flows, and performing gap analyses). (Required)
  • Experience scaling automation across multiple workflows or operational areas using repeatable delivery patterns. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with claims operations or similar process-driven domains. (Preferred)
  • Experience building dashboards and operational reporting using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent BI tools. (Preferred)
  • Experience using SQL for data analysis (Preferred)
  • Fluency using AI tools such as Copilot for drafting requirements, analyzing data, summarizing stakeholder input, or accelerating documentation workflows. (Preferred)
  • Experience with Lean methodology or Six Sigma. (Preferred)
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Visio, or Sharepoint. (Preferred)
  • Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries. (Preferred)
  • Experience in a project environment that utilizes Agile or Waterfall methodologies. (Preferred)

The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Salary Range:
$80,200.00 - $125,600.00
National Plus Salary Range:
$84,200.00 - $143,100.00
*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
