Job Description

The Opportunity: 

The team is seeking a Consumer Data Analyst to help unlock the value of consumer and ecommerce data to drive business growth.  The Analyst will report to the Manager Consumer Data & Advanced Analytics and will be located in our El Segundo, CA office.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

Quantitative Methods

  • Knowledge of descriptive statistical measures
  • Knowledge of consumer analyses (e.g. new vs returning consumer behavior, consumer cohorts, consumer journeys)
  • Propose quantitative approaches and conduct analyses
  • Awareness of modeling, ready to apply the following with guidance: data cleaning, linear / logistic regression, segmentation, churn / propensity, lifetime value

Programming / Tools

  • Proficient with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Proficiency with SQL, querying accurately with minimal review
  • Ability to do the following with either Python or R:
  • Clean, explore, and transform data
  • Apply statistical analyses and predictive models
  • Use either notebooks or scripts to develop clean, standardized code

Data Visualization

  • Experience designing action-oriented visualizations that tell a story and drive results
  • Application of methods appropriate for summarizing and displaying both categorical and numeric data
  • Experience designing and developing interactive dashboards in tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Sisense)
  • Experience in producing plots and visualizations programmatically (e.g. matplotlib, ggplot)

Business Knowledge

  • Understanding of e-commerce business domain
  • Understanding of measures relevant to context (KPI’s): conversion, demand, net sales, AOV, retention rate, RFM

Critical Thinking / Innovation

  • Takes initiative to identify problems and be proactive in providing solutions
  • Able to reason through theories, facts, and potential choices to determine logical implications
  • Demonstrates continuous learning

Communication

  • Ability to tell a concise story to business stakeholders with actionable recommendations, providing quantitative evidence when needed
  • Documents analysis, assumptions, methodology, and results clearly and at the appropriate level of detail

Independence

  • Balances independent problem-solving with asking questions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks according to priority, schedule, resources, etc

Bonus Points

  • Understanding of data transformation processes or ETL
  • Experience with cloud architecture (e.g. GCP, AWS)
Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or a related field
  • Prior experience in ecommerce, digital analytics, consumer analytics, or retail environments preferred
