Job description

Position Summary:

The Analyst Safety Data Governance & Insights (SDGI) will support JetBlue's Safety Business Intelligence (SBI) team in establishing and leveraging advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and approved generative AI tools to enhance safety data analysis, identify emerging trends and risks, design and develop data visualizations and support data-driven decision making. The analyst will ensure that AI-assisted insights are validated, explainable, compliant with company data governance standards, and aligned with Safety Management System (SMS) principles and regulatory requirements.

In addition, the SDGI Analyst will join a team supporting and continuously innovating and improving the Safety Management System (SMS) Electronic Recordkeeping System and safety data insights. This role will report to the Senior Manager Safety Management System.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards on relevant safety data from the Safety Management System (SMS) Recordkeeping system supporting JetBlue Safety and Regulatory Compliance leaders and their programs
  • Build combined data sources from multiple complex data pipelines within Snowflake tables to build consolidated dashboards in Tableau
  • Work with the leaders of Safety Management System (SMS) and all operational and corporate safety teams as well as IT to ensure consistency and a common thread with data, programs, processes, and products
  • Partner with stakeholders to gain an understanding of goal measures and identify areas where additional safety performance support is needed to advance the use of data for assessment, evaluation and performance improvement
  • Adhere to established processes for building dashboards, visualization, requirement gathering, testing and production deployment
  • Develop and maintain AI-enabled analytical solutions that support proactive identification of safety trends, emerging hazards, operational risks, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Utilize approved generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, or equivalent enterprise AI platforms) to accelerate data exploration, dashboard development, documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication while maintaining appropriate validation and oversight.
  • Apply advanced statistical techniques, predictive analytics, and machine learning methodologies to improve safety performance monitoring and risk identification
  • Design and implement AI-assisted workflows that integrate data from multiple safety, operational, and regulatory data sources to improve analytical efficiency and insight generation
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Technology, and Digital teams to evaluate and integrate emerging AI capabilities into Safety Business Intelligence platforms and processes
  • Utilize natural language processing (NLP) and generative AI capabilities to analyze structured and unstructured safety data, including report narratives, safety assurance, safety risk management, and corrective action records
  • Demonstrate adaptability and the ability to rapidly learn and effectively utilize new technologies, analytics platforms, AI-enabled tools, and safety management systems to support evolving business needs
  • Find robust, scalable solutions depending on the business data analytics requirement
  • Play a pivotal role in accomplishing the Data Insights goals across the safety department
  • Maintain the data glossary and the data flow lineage and usage
  • Support development of dashboards and analytics on relevant Safety Data Quality KPIs to measure the success of the safety data governance & insights program
  • Present new dashboards with their functionalities to department leadership
  • Stay involved and up to date with the industry's best practices in the driving data insights to advise on process / methodology improvement
  • Develop context, establish goals, make clear prioritization decisions and communicate to the stakeholders on progress towards analytical goals
  • Assist with the identification and prioritization of opportunities where analytical process redesign/improvement can significantly impact efficiency, efficacy, compliance, quality, and user satisfaction
  • Identify data governance gaps and assess data governance maturity in a complex data environment. Identify the implications for data governance that arise from the technology, current processes, and skill levels in a complex data environment
  • Work on conducting assessments to identify individual, programmatic and organizational needs; conduct process improvement initiatives with process owners which includes documenting current process to identify pain points and opportunities, performing supporting data analysis, facilitating the design of the process changes, and supporting implementation of the process change
  • Employs the practical application of ICAO Doc 9859 SMS Safety Performance Management theory to help leaders identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Safety Performance Targets (SPTs), and triggers/alerts to ensure timely measurement
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and security regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, Aviation Safety, Data Science, Statistics or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • One (1) year of experience supporting Database Management System (DBMS), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) & Business Intelligence systems including data warehousing, and Visualization tools
  • Strong data architecture Experience building data sources, dashboards, customizing data sources using Structured Query Language (SQL) concepts
  • Understanding of Enterprise data warehouse systems, star schema, Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) and data models
  • Experience researching, analyzing and synthesizing information/data into recommendations, visualizations and presentations
  • Understanding of Cloud architecture
  • Understanding of various aspects of JetBlue IT and ability to work with variety of IT teams for respective purposes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to quickly learn new software through training and self -study
  • Available for occasional overnight travel (20%)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field
  • Three (3) years of experience with management and analysis of aviation or safety data
  • Experience with safety metrics, safety management system (SMS) databases, and safety evaluation methodologies
  • Proficiency with relational database management systems programming (SQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Proficiency with statistics and statistical programming (R, Python, SAS, etc.)
  • Proficiency with business intelligence tools (Snowflake, Tableau, SSRS, etc.)
  • Advanced skills in descriptive and inferential statistics
  • Experience with data governance or the development and implementation of cross-functional corporate data initiatives
  • Working knowledge of regulations, industry trends, and programs governing commercial aviation safety, security, environmental, and employee health and safety
  • Proven application of performance and cause analysis for performance monitoring and improvement

  • Support the development of a Safety Intelligence capability that combines traditional business intelligence, predictive analytics, and AI-assisted insights to enhance safety risk management, regulatory compliance, and operational decision-making across JetBlue.
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircrafts

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is between $62,000.00 and $101,000.00 per year.
