Data Scientist

Location: United States (SF local preferred) Contract Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension Group: Data Science & Statistical Computing, gRED

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics, or an equivalent field.
  • Minimum 6 years of technical experience in software development.
  • Advanced R programming skills.
  • Software development experience in R and experience delivering professional software.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics, next generation sequencing, and genomic data analysis & data visualization.
  • Strong code debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience working with collaborative software development using Git, GitHub, and Kanban boards.
  • Experience working with REST API’s, complex data structures, and data platforms.
  • Experience with developing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Creative thinking for solving complex engineering challenges.
  • Ability to present work both verbally and in writing, in a clear manner to diverse audiences including users, technical colleagues, and management.
Responsibilities:
  • Work on an innovative team that provides an interactive genomic data analysis environment with a large stakeholder base.
  • Influence design, strategy and implementation of new software features.
  • Maintain and extend an R package that interfaces departmental analytics tools with commercial software.
  • Integrate new genomic data analysis methods into an interactive analysis software.
  • Build out capabilities for supporting new next generation sequencing data modalities.
  • Maintain integrations between front-end software and back-end systems.
