Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for defining and executing the technological roadmap to meet our clients’ requirements by operating and supporting the manufacturing process from purchase to launch.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida. 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical liaison between management, shop and quality functions.
  • Take engineering drawings and create, document, and generate manufacturing routers to produce hardware in a timely manner which meets customer requirements and timelines.
  • Read and communicate internal and customer drawings to shop floor personnel.
  • Assist production in the resolution of manufacturing problems to maintain production schedules.
  • Contribute to and collaborate with Engineering resources to understand and continuously improve design for manufacturability.
  • Continually work to develop process improvements and enhancements to maximize production and quality.
  • Support new purchase order pre-production meetings, weekly management production schedule tag up, and any other unscheduled meetings as they are required by management.
  • Professional Engineering mindset with a predisposition for innovation and attention to detail
  • Promote an environment where Engineering/Production team members are considered highly valued technical experts.
  • Display professionalism while interacting with Quality Assurance, Sales, and manufacturing personnel to support production activities, disposition of parts, and analysis of customer concerns.
  • Support the Manufacturing Engineering Department’s synergistic role within the organization by assisting other departments for the mutual benefit of the company.
  • Participate in technical data package reviews when necessary to ensure constraints are resolved to meet requirements.
  • Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with colleagues and all levels of management.
  • Treat all coworkers with respect and dignity ensuring a collaborative culture is continually developed and maintained.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with at least 3 years of engineering and/or manufacturing experience OR a master’s degree in (STEM) with 1+ years of engineering/manufacturing experience.
  • Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Require strong manufacturing background in machining, sheet metal, tooling and composites/ plastics.
  • Knowledge of CNC/Multi-Axis Milling, Mill-Turn, Grinding, Wire EDM, Drilling, Deburring, Welding, Waterjet and Mechanical Assembly Processes.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Systems: Prototype Processing, 3-D Printing, Equipment review and selection.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering Drawing Interpretation - Read GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, notes.
  • Manufacturing Processes knowledge - understanding CNC milling/turning, drilling, grinding, EDM, welding, etc.
  • Understanding of common aerospace standards and specifications.
  • Extensive understanding of material and material selection in support of various machining/manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of various special processes (heat treat, ultrasonic inspection, surface finishes, welding, etc.)

 

Physical Requirements

  • Stationary Work – occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force to transport objects, remaining mostly stationary, sometimes requiring moving about the work center on concrete surfaces
  • Computer Work – daily use of laptop, computer monitor screen, keyboard, and mouse, sometimes utilizing a headset with microphone & speakers. 
  • Prolonged periods sitting or standing in an office environment

 

Travel Requirement

Able to travel <10% of the time


Shift/Schedule
 

This position is for the 1st shift generally working Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm
