Job description

Brookdale Community College seeks a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Jewelry 1 for the Fall 2025 semester. This course introduces students to fundamental jewelry fabrication techniques and design principles.


  • Prepare and deliver lectures, demonstrations, and studio instruction in jewelry making.
  • Develop a course syllabus addendum aligned with department standards, including objectives, outcomes, and grading criteria.
  • Cover metal fabrication techniques, such as sawing, filing, soldering, texturing, and forming.
  • Introduce the safe use of jewelry studio tools and equipment.
  • Hold office hours to support students outside of class.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MFA degree in jewelry or metals or BFA degree with a concentration in jewelry or metals combined with a minimum of five years of recent professional experience. 
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations, both Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Institutional.  
  • Ability to monitor safety procedures required to handle gas, acids, kilns, resins, and power equipment.   
  • Comprehensive skills in soldering, casting, etching, and enameling. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience at the college level.
  • Experience with diverse student populations.
  • Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend courses may be available in Lincroft, Western Monmouth and Higher Education Centers.
    Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
