Job description

Are you passionate about providing a quality experience for children in the Cleveland, TN area? Join the YMCA team as an After School Counselor and make a positive impact on the lives of others. We are seeking After School Counselors who are available every Monday-Friday from 2:45pm - 5:45pm OR 3:15pm- 6:15pm.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement daily lesson/activity plans within established guidelines.
  • Supervise children and all program activities.
  • Make systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
  • Maintain positive relationships through effective communication with parents.
  • Attend YMCA Branch family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with elementary school-aged children in a group setting preferred.
  • Previous experience working with diverse backgrounds preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/Russian/Ukrainian/English) a plus.
  • Required to work every Monday through Friday either 2:45pm-5:45pm OR 3:15pm-6:15pm

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lead and participate in activities in indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing.
