Job description

Position TitleMiddle School Softball CoachPosition SummaryThe Middle School Softball Coach is responsible for leading and developing a positive, educational, and competitive softball program for middle school student-athletes. The coach will promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, skill development, and personal growth while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and conduct softball practices, conditioning sessions, and games.Teach fundamental softball skills, game strategies, and proper sportsmanship.Foster teamwork, leadership, accountability, and respect among student-athletes.Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team activities.Ensure compliance with school, district, league, and state athletic policies and procedures.Maintain player safety and enforce appropriate training and injury prevention practices.Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and athletic administration.Coordinate equipment inventory, uniforms, and field preparation needs.Monitor student-athlete academic progress and encourage academic success.Promote positive behavior and serve as a role model for students.Attend coaches meetings, trainings, and school athletic events as required.Assist with program development, team scheduling, and offseason activities when applicable.QualificationsPrevious softball coaching, playing, or related athletic experience preferred.Knowledge of softball rules, techniques, and player development.Ability to motivate and work effectively with middle school-aged students.Ability to maintain professionalism and positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.Must pass all required background checks and meet district hiring requirements.Work ScheduleSeasonal position requiring after-school practices, evening games, and occasional weekend tournaments or events.CompensationStipend paid based on district salary schedule and experience.
