Earn While You Learn – Launch Your Career in Imaging!


Looking for a rewarding career in healthcare? The UPMC Diagnostic Imaging 2 Year Apprenticeship Program is a highly competitive initiative designed to offer participants practical clinical experience, relevant academic coursework, and financial support while enrolled in the CCAC Radiologic Technologist Training Program. This Apprenticeship Program gives you the chance to earn a full-time salary while working part-time hours—all while working toward your Associate’s Degree in Radiology through the Community College of Allegheny County.


This unique “earn while you learn” opportunity combines classroom instruction with hands-on clinical training in UPMC’s Level 1 trauma centers. You’ll gain real-world experience, work alongside expert physicians, and receive progressive pay increases as you advance toward becoming a Radiologic Technologist.


This program is strictly for first-year Community College of Allegheny County Radiology students.

    What You’ll Learn
  • Operate X-ray and Fluoroscopic equipment for diagnostic exams
  • Assist physicians with advanced, image-guided procedures
  • Perform inpatient, outpatient, operating room, and emergency department X-ray exams


    *Eligibility is extended to individuals who qualify for both the Apprenticeship Program and employment at UPMC Presbyterian, and who can commit to additional on the job training hours (not to exceed 24 hours per week) at UPMC Presbyterian throughout the duration of their academic studies.*
     

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Currently enrolled in the Community College of Allegheny County’s Radiologic Technologist program with completion of six months in the diagnostic tech apprenticeship program.
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
     
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
