Job Summary/Basic Function
First Credential Navigators will focus on work-based learning activities and support in the Ogden School District. Two navigators will be placed with the district-wide Work-Based Learning (WBL) coordinator to focus primarily on junior high students and families. Two additional navigators will be placed with the Principal of George Washington High School to focus on alternative and adult high school students.
Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Planning and organizing WBL events by communicating with industry and school personnel, using google tools (i.e. docs, sheets, forms) to organize events, coordinate with teachers and schools to plan student field trips, and to help set-up and take down event venues.
  • Help advertise and recruit for student internships and support student interns with application and schedules by:
    • Using google tools (i.e. docs, sheets, forms) to track student intern application processes.
    • Use district student information system (SIS) to identify students who qualify for specific internships.
    • Regularly meet with students to support internship application and enrollment processes.
  • Attend WBL related meetings and participate in WBL committees and follow through on meeting agenda action items.
  • Gather and report WBL related data for meetings, WBL presentations or grant reports.

Required Qualifications
Must be an enrolled Weber State student taking at least 9 credits.
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident
Meet AmeriCorps and Ogden School District background check standards
Demonstrated reliability in a work or volunteer context
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with youth in schools, after-school programs, athletics, etc.
Lived experience with alternative or adult education (George Washington High School specifically)
