Description Junior Childcare Activity Leader - After School Teacher Kettering, Centerville, OH Part-Time/Non-Exempt $11.00-$13.20/Hourly Position Summary: Junior Childcare Activity Leader - After School Teacher for Childcare Kettering, Centerville, OH, Assists in for the planning, development and implementation of all classroom's activities. The Supplemental Assistant Teacher is responsible for ensuring the children's social, physical, spiritual, and mental development in the program, as well as keeping safety and the wellbeing of the children as a first priority.   • Assists in the implementation of weekly lesson plans that fit the children's needs, interests, and developmental levels in the classroom.
  • Works cooperatively with classroom staff.
  • Documents attendance, absenteeism, transitions, minor disciplines, and incidents for each child in the classroom.
  • Is responsible for all aspects of the appearance and management of their classroom/designated program/outside areas. Maintains the quality of supplies, materials, and equipment in the room in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Reports any broken or unsafe toys and properly disinfects toys and equipment on a regular basis in accordance with the state regulations.
  • Conducts the program in accordance with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines.
  • Effectively communicates verbal and written reports to the Lead Teacher.
  • Possesses working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and follows proper reporting procedures.
  • Monitors and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the childcare and program area.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, staff activities and ongoing trainings.
  • Attends in-service training events as required by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) regulations, continued professional development through community involvement, reading and/or further education.
  • Remains familiar with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), or the National After School Association (NAA) accreditation requirements and completes required documentation in accordance with Center requirements.
  • Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns, needed repairs, or incidents that may need follow-up.
  • Will have the opportunity to work summer months/Day Camp.
  • Protects confidential information regarding program participants, families, and staff members.
  • Those under 18 years of age are not to be left alone in with children and should be with an adult 18 years of age or older to assist with classroom duties and care of children.
Core Expectations:
  • Knows and administers the appropriate EAP (emergency action plan) for any situation, including first aid or CPR, work-related employee injuries, etc.
  • Completes incident and accident reports as required.
  • Takes an active role in the Annual Campaign.
  • Follows membership retention practices of the branch.
  • Is courteous and gives sincere attention to members by answering questions and providing positive and regular feedback to program participants.
  • Knows the names of members and uses their names when speaking with them.
  • Upholds guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook of the Association.
  • Maintains appropriate certifications and records.
  • Attends designated trainings and staff meetings.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Director or Management Staff.
  • Notifies supervisor and reports suspicions of abuse or neglect to appropriate local public service agencies.
  • All employees will adhere to all policies and protocols In the abuse prevention handbook.
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 15 years of age and working toward a high school diploma.
  • Six months experience working with children
  • Demonstration of leadership qualities.
