After School Counselor-Part Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Part Time
Under supervision of the Site Coordinator/Childcare Director/Program Director/Branch Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the afterschool counselor is responsible for providing program leadership in an afterschool student group. The Counselor will assist the Childcare Director/Program Director/Branch Manager/Regional VP with various branch activities such as special events, and other activities that occur on various occasions.
  • Leadership for specific after school group.
  • Maintain discipline within after school group.
  • Follow emergency procedures in case of accidents.
  • Remain with after school group at all times.
  • Plan and implement open period activities.
  • Maintain after school equipment.
  • Maintain reports and attendance records.
  • Follow established after school procedures and guidelines.
  • Follow the YMCA mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Qualifications:
  • Exposure to small structured group work.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must be at least a junior in high school.
  • No experience required.
  • Have a positive attitude and desire to achieve the mission of the Upper Palmetto YMCA
  • Carrying, sitting, seeing, hearing, speaking, running, crouching, lifting (25lbs.), and walking
