Job description

Primary Purpose:

Direct and manage the operations of the elementary school after school program.

Qualifications:

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Thorough understanding of after school program operations

Effective organizational, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills

Ability to coordinate after school program functions

Ability to implement policy and procedures

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Child Care Operations

  1. Maintain high quality childcare standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.
  2. Maintain consistent, open, and effective communication with parents.
  3. Provide reliable, accurate, and timely information about the after school program to interested parties. 

Policy, Reports, and Law

  1. Implement federal and state law, Department of Family Protective Services rule, and board policy
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  3. Maintain accurate records on children enrolled in the program.

Budget and Inventory

  1. Manage the budget based on documented needs and ensure operations are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
  2. Manage program equipment and supplies and recommend replacement and disposal of obsolete equipment as necessary.

Personnel Management

  1. Recruit staff members, schedule monthly work calendars, and communicate any changes to maintain a fully staffed daily team for ASC.

Safety

  1. Ensure measures are in place and operating to protect students, staff, supplies, and equipment.
  2. Maintain safety standards conforming with federal, state, and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventive safety.
  3. Implement and follow district safety protocols and emergency protocols.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and printer.

Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping

Motion: Moderate walking, climbing, lifting, balancing, and handing or moving materials

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying

Environment: Work inside and/or outside; exposure to noise.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress and self-control in the presence of children.
