Clarkston Surgery Center - is a well-established ambulatory surgery center that has been serving patients since 2009. Our highly trained team of professionals is dedicated to fostering a positive, collaboative work environment while delivering exceptional surgical care. The center is committed to providing the highest standard of services and continuously improving quality and patient experience by focusing on processes that best support patients, their families, and the physicians who practice at the facility. Job Summary: Assists the surgical team before, during, and after the surgical procedure. Provides patient care within the prevailing state standards of practice and according to the policies of the facility. Prepares equipment and supplies prior to the case. Communicates appropriate information to other team members. Helps maintain equipment, supplies, and general cleanliness of the unit. May have additional responsibilities designated by the manager, which may include, but are not limited to providing patient care in other peri-operative departments, serving on committees, and participating in quality improvement projects. Reporting Relationship: Operating Room Manager Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.Follows standards, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for peri-operative nursing care according to accepted standards.Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge in aseptic technique, proper scrub technique, cleaning and preparation of equipment, and operating room.Has equipment and instrumentation prepared and is ready for the case to begin when the patient is brought into the room.Demonstrates ability to understand the unique needs of each age group of the patient population.Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens and body fluids.Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior.Uses good body mechanics and aseptic technique.Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and in crisis situations.Counts sponges, needles, and instruments at the direction of the R.N. in charge of the room.Informs Manager of applicable day-to-day situations.Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies. Qualifications: Requires high school diploma, current CST certification and valid CPR certification. Proven clinical compentancy required. Job Behavior: Demonstrates ability to work as a team member and to communicate directly and professionally. Is flexible, reliable, productive, patient-oriented, and self-motivated. Portrays Center in a positive light to others. Avoids being involved in gossip spreading or conversations that promote discord of staff members.
