This position plays a crucial role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for students after regular school hours. As an afterschool care worker, you will support our school’s mission by fostering an atmosphere that reflects Christian values and principles.Lines of Authority:Reports to the After School Care Program DirectorEducation:High School Diploma or GED RequiredRequired Personal Qualities:

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Previous experience working in a leadership role within an educational or childcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of Christian principles and a commitment to integrating them into program activities and interactions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a preschool or early childhood education setting.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Skills:
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Transportation:Reliable transportation.                                                                                       Physical and Mental Effort:The afterschool care teacher at must oversee children's safety during activities, engaging in physical tasks like monitoring play and organizing spaces. They must be prepared for emergencies, administering basic first aid as needed. Mental demands include attentiveness to children's needs and behaviors, multitasking to assist with homework and coordinate activities, and resolving conflicts calmly while integrating Christian values. Emotionally, the role requires empathy, patience, and resilience to support children's emotional development and maintain positive interactions, fostering an environment that reflects Christian principles of care and compassion.Classification:Non-ExemptHours:Part-time position, typically Monday through Friday, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Exact hours may vary based on school needs and activities.
Essential Functions

  1. Supervision and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times during afterschool hours.
  1. Activity Coordination: Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts that promote physical, social, and emotional development.
  1. Homework Assistance: Assist students with completing homework assignments and provide academic support when needed..
  1. Snack Time: Oversee snack time and ensure snacks provided align with school policies, which may include considerations for allergies and dietary restrictions.
  1. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, teachers, and school administration regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns that may arise.
  1. Spiritual Guidance: Integrate Christian values into daily activities and interactions with students, promoting spiritual growth and character development.
  1. Clean-Up: Ensure that the afterschool care area is kept clean, organized, and safe at all times.
