Job Description

The Security Architect is responsible for solution security assurance across business and technology initiatives within Old Mutual Africa Regions and contributing to enterprise-level security architecture strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain security architecture principles, standards, and reference models

Lead and govern security architecture reviews and provide security sign-off for technology initiatives.

Ensure solutions comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk standards

Support compliance with financial-sector cybersecurity and data protection regulations across multiple markets

Assess security implications of outsourced services, fintech integrations, and other third-party arrangements

Define and enforce security controls for cloud platforms, integrations and DevSecOPs

Perform threat modelling and risk assessments in collaboration with key security stakeholders

Recommend mitigations for vulnerabilities and collaborate with Technology, Engineering, Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams in remediation and validation activities

Monitor emerging trends in technology, threats and vulnerabilities, and drive continuous improvement in security architecture maturity

Develop and participate in the build of the Security architecture practice with embedded architects and engineers including the relevant methods, repository and tools

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred certifications: CISSP, CISM, SABSA, TOGAF

Experience in:

Security architecture design and governance

Enterprise/solution architecture

Cloud security (AWS and/or Azure)

API and integration security

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of:

Identity and Access Management

Network and infrastructure security

Application/API security

Zero Trust Architecture principles
