What is an AFIS officer?

AFIS Officers are law enforcement professionals who specialize in operating and maintaining Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS). They are responsible for processing, analyzing, and comparing fingerprint records to help identify individuals in criminal investigations and other legal matters. AFIS Officers ensure that fingerprint data is accurately entered, maintained, and searched within the database, playing a vital role in supporting forensic and investigative operations. Their work helps law enforcement agencies solve crimes, verify identities, and maintain accurate criminal records.
