Affinity Web Development information

What is affinity web development?

Affinity Web Development refers to creating, designing, and maintaining websites using Affinity software products, such as Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo, and Affinity Publisher. These tools are often used by web developers and designers for creating website graphics, UI elements, and layouts due to their powerful design capabilities and affordability compared to other industry-standard software. While Affinity itself is not a coding platform, it plays a significant role in preparing visual assets and prototypes for web development projects. Many professionals combine Affinity tools with coding languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build fully functional websites.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an affinity web developer?

To thrive as an Affinity Web Developer, you need strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web design principles, often supported by a degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with Affinity design tools (such as Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo), as well as experience with content management systems and version control (like Git), is typically required. Creative problem-solving, effective communication, and attention to detail are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities are crucial for building visually appealing, functional websites that meet client needs and industry standards.

How does an affinity web developer typically collaborate with designers and other stakeholders during a project?

As an Affinity Web Developer, you will often work closely with UI/UX designers, project managers, and sometimes clients throughout a project's lifecycle. This usually involves participating in planning meetings, sharing progress via collaborative tools, and reviewing design mockups to ensure feasibility and functionality. Regular communication and feedback loops are essential to align technical implementation with design goals and project requirements. Emphasizing teamwork and adaptability will help ensure a smooth workflow and a successful final product.

Job description

Are you excited about the incredible opportunity that cloud computing represents? Are you passionate about delivering high-quality services and ready to apply your experience at massive scale? Amazon Web Services' Cloud Storage, Amazon S3, is one of the largest distributed storage systems in the world. We host trillions of objects and serve hundreds of millions of requests per second and we're continuing to grow! Amazon S3 powers businesses across the globe that make the lives of consumers better daily. With trillions of objects to manage, keeping track of what is in S3 is hard. S3 Index develops software responsible for durability and availability of key-value metadata. We tackle some of the hardest computer science problems. We build systems that can handle wildly varying access patterns and unprecedented load by our customers.

S3 Index team is looking for a passionate, experienced software development manager to build the next generation of S3 Indexing system. In this role, you will leverage your technical depth in large-scale distributed systems to solve complex problems with simple solutions for one of AWS's foundational services. You will be building systems capable of gracefully accommodating highly diverse access patterns and substantial throughput demands driven by our customers.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work at massive scale while building both great software and great teams.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of talented software engineers, creating structures that enable them to solve complex problems and deliver high-impact solutions while fostering their growth and professional development.
  • Own team-wide architectural decisions and technical direction for a high-visibility S3-wide initiative, ensuring quality software aligned with Amazon's engineering best practices while making appropriate trade-offs between tactical needs and strategic goals.
  • Create mechanisms and metrics that enable you to explain your team's performance and identify opportunities to improve customer experiences.
  • Partner with engineering leaders across S3 to identify and address complex technical challenges, evaluating downstream impacts and architectural cohesiveness.
A day in the life

Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with your team of talented software engineers to solve problems to deliver innovations across this foundational AWS service. You'll balance technical deep dives with strategic planning sessions, working across organizational boundaries to drive alignment on your high-visibility initiative. You'll mentor team members to foster their growth while ensuring they have the support needed to deliver complex solutions that meet S3's rigorous standards for security, durability, availability, and performance.
