What is an affiliate program?

An affiliate program is a marketing arrangement where a business rewards external partners, known as affiliates, for generating traffic or sales through the affiliate's marketing efforts. Affiliates promote the company's products or services using special tracking links and earn a commission for each sale, lead, or specific action completed by referred customers. This model benefits both the business, which gains more exposure and sales, and the affiliate, who earns passive income. Affiliate programs are common in e-commerce and online services because they offer a cost-effective way to expand market reach.

What is the difference between Affiliate Program vs Affiliate Manager?

In summary, the Affiliate Program focuses on creating and managing the overall affiliate marketing strategy, while the Affiliate Manager handles day-to-day partner relationships and performance optimization. Both roles are essential in driving affiliate marketing success but differ in scope and responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an affiliate program manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Affiliate Program Manager, you need a strong understanding of digital marketing, partnership management, and data analysis, usually supported by experience in affiliate or performance marketing. Familiarity with affiliate tracking platforms (such as Impact, CJ Affiliate, or Rakuten), CRM systems, and analytics tools is typically required. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help you recruit and support affiliates while driving program growth. These skills ensure effective management of partnerships, optimization of campaigns, and achievement of revenue goals for the organization.

What is an affiliate program job?

In e-commerce, an affiliate program is a marketing tool utilized by a marketing and ad agency or a specific brand to improve sales of services and products. The goal is for account executives or marketing specialists to develop relationships with external affiliates, such as websites that sell ad space, bloggers, and social media influencers. Your responsibilities as an affiliate or representative are to leverage their networks to drive traffic to a retailer or online merchant and build awareness of the brand. The e-commerce merchant then pays you a commission based on sales attributable to your effort, which is tracked by link clicks or referral codes. You can also work on the administrative side of an affiliate program for a marketing or ad tech agency or retailer.

What are the typical responsibilities of an affiliate program manager, and how do they collaborate with other departments?

Professionals managing an affiliate program are responsible for recruiting and onboarding new affiliates, monitoring affiliate performance, optimizing program strategies, and ensuring timely payouts. They frequently collaborate with marketing teams to align promotional campaigns, with legal teams to ensure compliance, and with finance to track commissions. Regular communication with affiliates is also key to fostering strong partnerships and achieving program goals.

Brand and Influencer Manager for Alphalete

Alphalete Athletics LLC

Missouri City, TX • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 15 days ago

Job description

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Brand Influencer & Affiliate Manager to lead one of the most

important growth channels within our business.

This is not simply a relationship management role. We are looking for someone who knows

how to build, grow, and continuously improve a high-performing influencer and affiliate

program that delivers measurable business results.

The right person understands that great partnerships require both strong relationships and

strong accountability. You know how to advocate for creators while also protecting the

interests of the brand. You're comfortable having difficult conversations, making thoughtful

decisions, and maintaining high standards even when the answer isn't always easy.

You thrive in environments that are evolving. You enjoy creating structure where it doesn't exist,

improving processes, using data to drive decisions, and building programs that scale.

If you believe relationships and performance can coexist, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Own

You will be responsible for the overall health, growth, and performance of our affiliate program.

This includes:

• Developing and executing the long-term influencer and affiliate strategy.

• Recruiting high-quality athletes, creators, and affiliates who genuinely align with our brand.

• Building meaningful, professional relationships that create long-term partnerships.

• Managing onboarding, contracts, communication, expectations, and ongoing support.

• Establishing clear performance expectations for all partners.

• Developing scorecards and performance metrics to evaluate partnership success.

• Regularly reviewing partner performance and making recommendations to expand, coach,

pause, or end partnerships when appropriate.

• Collaborating closely with Marketing, Creative, Social Media, Product, Athlete Relations,

and Leadership to align campaigns and launches.

• Identifying growth opportunities within the affiliate program through data, trends, and

industry best practices.

• Monitoring ROI, sales attribution, engagement, conversion, and overall program

effectiveness.

• Continuously improving processes, documentation, reporting, and communication across

the program.

• Representing the brand professionally while maintaining consistency, fairness, and

accountability.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means:

• A growing roster of high-quality creators who genuinely represent our brand.

• Strong, professional relationships built on trust and clear expectations.

• Increased affiliate revenue and measurable program growth.

• Consistent recruiting of new talent that aligns with business objectives.

• High-performing partners are recognized and developed.

• Underperforming partnerships are addressed promptly and professionally.

• Decisions are driven by data rather than emotion.

• Clear reporting, scorecards, KPIs, and visibility into program performance.

• Internal teams experience organized communication, proactive planning, and dependable

execution.

Who You Are

You naturally balance empathy with accountability.

You know when to coach, when to challenge, and when it's time to move on.

You don't avoid difficult conversations.

You communicate directly, professionally, and respectfully.

You understand that consistency creates credibility.

You enjoy building relationships but recognize that successful partnerships require mutual

performance and shared expectations.

You are comfortable making decisions even when there isn't a perfect answer.

You can navigate gray areas while remaining objective, fair, and aligned with the company's

best interests.

You believe continuous improvement is part of the job, not an occasional initiative.

Qualifications

• 5+ years managing influencer, affiliate, creator, athlete, ambassador, or partnership programs

for a consumer brand.

• Demonstrated success growing an influencer or affiliate program with measurable business

impact.

• Strong understanding of affiliate platforms, creator partnerships, campaign management,

and performance reporting.

• Experience negotiating partnerships and managing creator relationships.

• Highly organized with exceptional project management skills.

• Comfortable working cross-functionally with creative, marketing, product, and leadership

teams.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret performance data and recommend

action.

• Experience developing KPIs, dashboards, scorecards, or performance reporting is strongly

preferred.

What We Value

We believe great partnerships are built through authenticity, trust, professionalism, and

accountability.

We're looking for someone who wants to build something exceptional, not simply maintain

what already exists.

As our company continues to evolve and grow, we're raising the bar across every function. We

are investing in leaders who embrace ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous

improvement.

If you're energized by building programs, elevating standards, solving problems, and making a

measurable impact, we'd love to hear from you.
