What is an affiliate broker?

An Affiliate Broker is a licensed real estate professional who works under the supervision of a principal broker or managing broker. They assist clients in buying, selling, or renting properties, and often handle tasks such as showing homes, preparing contracts, and negotiating deals. Affiliate Brokers are typically early in their real estate careers and use the guidance of a more experienced broker to develop their skills and understanding of the industry. Their responsibilities and required qualifications may vary by state, but they generally must pass a licensing exam before practicing.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an affiliate broker, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Affiliate Broker, you need a thorough knowledge of real estate principles, strong sales skills, and a valid state-issued real estate license. Familiarity with Multiple Listing Services (MLS), customer relationship management (CRM) software, and real estate contract platforms is crucial. Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-focused interpersonal skills help you build trust and manage transactions smoothly. These abilities ensure effective property transactions, client satisfaction, and long-term success in a competitive industry.

What are some common challenges affiliate brokers face when starting out, and how can they overcome them?

New Affiliate Brokers often encounter challenges such as building a client base, understanding complex real estate regulations, and learning effective negotiation techniques. It can take time to establish trust with clients and gain industry experience. Networking, seeking mentorship from experienced brokers, and staying updated on local market trends can help overcome these hurdles. Many successful Affiliate Brokers also invest in ongoing professional development and make use of brokerage-provided resources to accelerate their learning.

Understanding these distinctions helps clarify career paths and job expectations in real estate.

What does an affiliate broker do?

An affiliate broker acts as an intermediary between clients and a brokerage firm, facilitating the buying and selling of securities or real estate. They typically earn commissions based on transactions and need relevant licenses or certifications to operate legally. Their role involves client communication, market analysis, and compliance with industry regulations.

Job description

Progressive Leasing is a leading provider of in-store and e-commerce lease-to-own solutions. With more than 20 years in FinTech, we’ve grown from start-up to industry leader by innovating, simplifying, and valuing people. We are a subsidiary of PROG Holdings (NYSE: PRG), a FinTech holding company with three business segments: Progressive Leasing, Purchasing Power (a leading employee purchase program for consumer products and services using payroll deduction), and Four, a Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) platform.About Four TechnologiesFour Technologies is a rapidly-growing Miami-based financial technology company founded in 2018, offering Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) solutions. Its innovative platform, Four, enables shoppers to split purchases into four interest-free installments, while helping retailers drive higher conversion, larger average order values, and stronger revenue growth.Learn more at paywithfour.com.About the RoleWe're looking for an Affiliate Partnerships & Revenue Manager to own and grow Four's affiliate revenue stream. This role is responsible for improving the performance of our existing affiliate base, building stronger relationships with affiliate brokers and retailers, and finding new ways to increase the revenue and GMV contribution Four generates through affiliate partnerships.This is not a passive partner-management role. You will own a revenue target and a percentage-of-GMV target, and you will be expected to improve both over time. You will analyze partner performance, identify where value is being lost or undercaptured, negotiate stronger commercial terms, and build the reporting, analytics, and operating systems that make the affiliate channel more effective.Four operates with a lean, AI-first philosophy. In this role, AI should be embedded in nearly every core workflow: analysis, reporting, forecasting, partner evaluation, workflow design, experimentation, technical execution, and ongoing optimization. We are not looking for someone who uses AI as a better version of search. We are looking for someone who is comfortable using AI as a primary working tool to extend their capabilities, move faster, and build systems that continuously improve business performance.A major part of this role is using AI-assisted automation to systematically improve affiliate revenue over time. That means building workflows, dashboards, alerts, scorecards, internal tools, and optimization loops that help Four identify where revenue is being missed, where partner economics can improve, where GMV contribution can grow, and where action should be taken next. You do not need to be a traditional software engineer, but you do need to be highly technical, highly analytical, and capable of building AI-assisted systems that make the affiliate business smarter, faster, and more profitable.Because Four operates with a flat organization design, this role reports directly to the President and is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.This is a fully remote or hybrid position. Candidates based in the Miami or Fort Lauderdale area are a plus. Overlap during core company working hours is required. Periodic travel for planning sessions, partner meetings, and key company events may be required.What You'll DoAffiliate Revenue OwnershipOwn Four's affiliate revenue stream, including channel growth, partner performance, and percentage-of-GMV contributionEstablish and manage clear channel reporting across revenue, GMV contribution, partner mix, performance trends, and opportunity pipelineBuild forecasts and performance views that help Four understand where affiliate revenue is growing, where it is underperforming, and what actions are needed nextFocus first on optimizing Four's existing affiliate base and growing the value Four captures from current relationshipsDevelop a clear understanding of which affiliate brokers, retailers, categories, and programs are creating the most value for FourPartnerships & Commercial GrowthBuild and maintain strong working relationships with affiliate brokers, retailers, and other relevant partnersDirectly negotiate commercial terms, economics, placements, and program structures that improve Four's outcomesIdentify where existing relationships are under-monetized and develop plans to increase valueExplore new affiliate and affiliate-adjacent partnership opportunities that could expand Four's revenue base beyond its current broker relationshipsTurn strong partner relationships into consistent revenue growth, not just account maintenanceAnalytics, Reporting & OptimizationOwn reporting and analytics for the affiliate channel directly; this role does not rely on a separate function to interpret channel performanceAnalyze the efficacy of Four's current affiliate program across partners, merchants, categories, placements, economics, and contribution to GMVIdentify performance gaps, revenue leakage, attribution issues, weak economics, or missed opportunities, and take action to correct themDevelop partner scorecards, operating cadences, and performance reviews that create consistent pressure toward better outcomesMeasure what is truly driving value so Four can focus attention on the highest-impact opportunitiesAutomation & Technical LeverageBuild AI-assisted workflows, dashboards, automations, and optimization systems that continuously improve affiliate performance over timeCreate systems that monitor partner health, economics, revenue trends, and GMV contribution, and surface where action is neededUse AI to accelerate technical execution across reporting, analysis, forecasting, experimentation, workflow design, and process improvementIdentify recurring manual work and turn it into durable automation wherever possibleBuild internal tools and decision-support workflows that help Four spot under-monetized relationships, weak economics, attribution issues, revenue leakage, and unrealized opportunity faster than we otherwise couldSystematize successful tactics into repeatable playbooks, workflows, and operating rhythms so gains compound over time rather than depending on one-off effortDocument learnings, automations, and systems so the affiliate function becomes increasingly scalable, measurable, and effectiveProduct & Marketing PartnershipPartner closely with Product to improve how affiliate opportunities are positioned in the Four experience and how product decisions can increase affiliate revenue and GMV contributionWork closely with Marketing to ensure affiliate opportunities are appropriately supported through campaigns, content, promotions, and channel coordinationIdentify opportunities where changes in product positioning, merchant presentation, or customer flow could improve affiliate monetizationHelp ensure successful partner and retailer strategies become repeatable, scalable programs rather than one-off winsWhat You'll BringExperience & Technical SkillsMeaningful experience in affiliate partnerships, performance marketing, business development, revenue optimization, or a related analytically rigorous roleA track record of growing a revenue channel through both commercial relationship management and performance improvementStrong analytical capability; you can go from raw data to insight to action without waiting on someone else to do the analysis for youHigh technical fluency and comfort building reporting, automations, workflows, and AI-assisted toolsDeep comfort using AI as a primary working tool in your day-to-day role, not as an occasional aidA demonstrated ability, or very strong instinct, to use AI-assisted automation to improve commercial performance in a systematic wayStrong commercial judgment and negotiation instinctsExperience in e-commerce, retail partnerships, marketplaces, or affiliate ecosystems is strongly preferred; fintech experience is helpful but not requiredLeadership & Working StyleHigh ownership; you are comfortable being directly accountable for outcomesSelf-directed and resourceful; you identify what needs to happen and drive it forward without a lot of structure around youCommercially minded and analytically disciplined;
