They assess clients' needs, recommend appropriate treatments or products, and may coordinate appointments with medical providers. Working remotely, they use video calls, phone consultations, and digital communication to deliver personalized recommendations, ensuring clients feel informed and confident in their choices. This role requires a strong understanding of aesthetic medicine, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trust with clients online.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an aesthetic consultant?

To thrive as a remote Aesthetic Consultant, you need a strong background in skincare, cosmetic procedures, and sales, often supported by certifications in aesthetics or cosmetology. Familiarity with CRM software, virtual consultation platforms, and digital marketing tools is typically required. Exceptional communication, active listening, and relationship-building skills help you connect with clients and provide tailored recommendations. These skills and qualities are crucial for building client trust, driving sales, and delivering high-quality virtual consultations in a competitive industry.

How do aesthetic consultants working remotely effectively collaborate with in-clinic teams and clients?

Remote Aesthetic Consultants often utilize video calls, messaging platforms, and digital record systems to maintain clear communication with both in-clinic teams and clients. They coordinate closely with medical staff to understand treatment plans and ensure client expectations are managed accurately. Building trust and rapport remotely can be a challenge, so strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to follow-up are essential. Regular check-ins and virtual consultations help bridge the distance, ensuring seamless service and effective teamwork.

Job description

At Moxie, we empower ambitious aesthetic entrepreneurs to build profitable, independent practices—without burnout, overwhelm, or guesswork. In just a few years, we've grown from an idea to a global, remote-first team now supporting 700+ practices nationwide.

Our purpose is simple: to unlock sustainable success for aesthetic entrepreneurs, at every stage of their journey.

**Must reside or have a primary office in California, and hold an active CA license.

We work with talented nurse injectors to empower them to build independent businesses. We help connect Medical Directors to RN, NP, and PA providers, to provide insight into state regulations and standards of care.

Our providers work through our software platform which streamlines administrative tasks to allow you to focus on medical partnership:

  • Approving all medical hires

  • Approving treatment menus (Botox, fillers, lasers, etc.)

  • Reviewing and signing protocols, SOPs, and consent forms

  • Being available for emergency

  • Provide general supervision according to state law

  • Be available for consultations and decision-making support

Once vetted, you will have the opportunity to interview and select the injectors you’d like to partner with, at the rates you determine. You may work with as many injectors as you choose, in accordance with state law.

Requirements:

  • Active California Medical License (required)

  • MD with a background in Plastic Surgery or Dermatology (preferred)

  • Must have a minimum of two (2) available NP oversight slots and one (1) available PA oversight slot (required)

  • Prior experience in aesthetic medicine as collaborating physician or Medical Director

  • Formal training in injectables and other aesthetic procedures (minimum botox and fillers)

  • Willingness to oversee and supervise aesthetic treatments

  • Open to serving as a California Professional Corporation (PC) Owner

  • Interest in mentoring and supporting RNs, PAs, and NPs

Please note:

A background check is conducted as part of our standard vetting process. Certain findings may impact eligibility for the Medical Director role in accordance with our internal compliance requirements.

Benefits:

Pay & Perks

  • Competitive compensation

  • Liability is covered

  • Minimal time commitment

  • Operational support: Moxie manages admin, billing, and documentation.

Other Info:

  • This is a PC owner position - Moxie manages everything on your behalf for the PC

  • Experience in either Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, Ophthalmology, or Oculoplastic Surgery is a plus

  • Job Type: Contract

  • Work Location: Remote

We’re specifically looking for Medical Directors licensed to practice in California.

At Moxie, we believe in creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, trusted, and included. Our team lives by our values: act as owners, give more than we take, move with speed and care, and simplify and learn every day.
