Job Description
Title: Administrative Assistant (211 days)
Hours: 7:45am-4:15pm
Location: Runnells Elementary
Qualifications:
  1. Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required, advanced degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in customer service or business related field preferred.
  3. Strong aptitude for computer software, database management and overall technology concepts.
  4. Ability to use and understand the district's student information system (Infinite Campus), and the district's employee absence reporting system (AESOP).
  5. Ability to relate successfully with students, staff, families, and the community; and adhere to confidentiality in all situations.
  6. Ability to maintain accurate records, filing systems, and organize varied tasks effectively while paying close attention to detail.
  7. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and to complete responsibilities as scheduled.
  9. Basic understanding of accounting principles.
  10. Valid CPR certificate.

Reports to: Building Principal
Job Goal:
This position will be responsible for the overall operation of the principal's office. The performance responsibilities as shown below represent only the key areas of responsibility; specific position requirements will vary depending on the needs of the building assigned.
Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with all building administration, staff, students and the public.
  2. Demonstrates integrity and respects confidentiality.
  3. Arrives on time and works consistently until the end of his/her scheduled day.
  4. Works independently and demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision.
  5. Demonstrates ability to grasp and adjust to new and changing situations.
  6. Ability to maintain all accounts receivable and accounts payable functions for the building.
  7. Provide oversight of the employee absence system (AESOP); work with staff to monitor and fill absences for all vacant positions.
  8. Deposit, receipt, and maintain miscellaneous accounts, including petty cash, fundraising accounts, and purchase card transactions.
  9. Answer phone, direct calls, take messages.
  10. Produce correspondence at principal's direction.
  11. Able to perform duties of a nurse's aide if necessary.
  12. Maintain school supply inventory; ordering supplies and securing repairs when needed.
  13. Ability to make decisions during principal's absence from building.
  14. Assist in arranging conference schedules.
  15. Assist at bus times, arriving and departing.
  16. Provide an appropriate role model for the students.
  17. Maintain confidentiality on sensitive information.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:
  1. Must be able to work with interruptions during a work shift.
  2. May be required to stand occasionally throughout the day or during school events.
  3. Must be capable of working with a diverse student population with different capabilities, and physical and mental limitations.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Southeast Polk CSD Board Policy.
Terms of Employment:
  1. 211 day position (Additional days upon Principal's discretion)
  2. Hourly wage to be determined by District Administration.
