Boiler TechnicianOverview
We're seeking an experienced Boiler Technician to join our field service team. In this role, you'll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial boilers, burners, and water heating systems in commercial and industrial facilities throughout the Chicago area.
This position is ideal for a technician with strong experience working on steam, hydronic, and volume water heating systems, particularly equipment exceeding 2 million BTUs. You'll work independently in the field while being supported by a safety-focused, team-oriented organization.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls involving no heat and no hot water issues.
- Diagnose and repair commercial boilers and volume water heaters.
- Troubleshoot and repair atmospheric and forced-draft burner systems.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, controls, piping, and related mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance to improve system reliability and reduce downtime.
- Wire, configure, and commission commercial boiler control systems.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, control schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and control-related issues.
- Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers in a professional manner.
- Accurately document service work, parts used, and equipment conditions.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience working with:
- Steam boilers
- Hydronic boilers
- Commercial water heating systems
- Experience servicing boiler systems exceeding 2 million BTUs.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience repairing atmospheric and forced-draft burners.
- Ability to wire and commission boiler controls and mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of pumps, valves, controls, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and mechanical schematics.
- EPA Universal Certification (or related certifications).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a field-service environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Commercial and industrial heating system experience.
- HVAC and mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience with compressors, plumbing, and facility maintenance.
- Experience implementing preventive maintenance programs.
- Strong commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Work Environment
Work takes place primarily at commercial and industrial customer sites throughout the Chicago area, with a strong focus on field-based service. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $83000.00 - $104000.00/yr.
