Job description

Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Description

This role focuses on developing, integrating, and testing software for aircraft and aircraft test systems, including work within high-fidelity simulation environments. You will contribute to both new and existing systems, create clear design documentation, and follow an established software development process to ensure compliance with system and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software for new and existing aircraft systems and aircraft test systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
  • Integrate and test software directly on aircraft and within virtual high-fidelity simulation environments.
  • Support flight test activities by preparing, executing, and analyzing software-related tests.
  • Create detailed design documentation for both internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Work in adherence to a defined software development process to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Develop software test plans and procedures that demonstrate compliance with system requirements and specifications.
  • Participate in the planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex engineered systems and software.
  • Ensure that developed software conforms to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with a small, accessible engineering team to solve technical challenges and share knowledge.
  • Take on additional workload and responsibilities as the team and scope of defense-related projects grow.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development for embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in C++ for developing and maintaining software components.
  • Experience with embedded software development in aerospace or defense environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with Linux-based systems.
  • Familiarity with Simulink and model-based design concepts.
  • Understanding of control systems and their implementation in embedded software.
  • Ability to develop and execute software test plans and procedures to verify system requirements.
  • Capability to obtain security clearance as required for defense-related projects.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
