Job Title: Quality Control Inspector
Job Description

The Quality Control Inspector ensures that manufactured products consistently meet internal quality standards, industry regulations, and contract specifications. This role requires precise inspection and testing throughout the manufacturing cycle, careful documentation of results, and proactive communication to resolve quality issues. The position operates on a 1st shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the flexibility to work up to 4:30 p.m. as needed and frequent Saturday shifts of 6 to 8 hours. The inspector works in a manufacturing environment that produces highly specialized equipment and components, requiring strong attention to detail, accurate measurement skills, and the ability to interpret technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and measure materials, components, and finished products throughout the manufacturing cycle to verify conformance to specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Use standard measuring tools accurately, including rulers, calipers, micrometers, force gauges, tape measures, and other measurement devices to perform precise inspections.
  • Interpret blueprints, manufacturing drawings, work specification sheets, and related data to determine inspection requirements, testing procedures, and appropriate measuring instruments.
  • Record inspection data, measurements, and quantities inspected on required inspection reports and forms in a clear and accurate manner.
  • Collect, organize, and file inspection and test records in accordance with established record maintenance procedures to ensure proper traceability and documentation.
  • Notify supervisors and relevant personnel promptly when production quality problems arise and assist in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Discuss inspection results with production and quality teams, clearly communicate nonconformances, and recommend necessary corrective actions to improve product quality.
  • Complete all required record keeping, including time sheets, traceability forms, and other documentation associated with quality control activities.
  • Understand and correctly apply part numbers and revision levels to ensure that the correct versions of components and products are inspected.
  • Inspect customer repair items as needed to verify that repair work meets specified quality and performance requirements.
  • Assist with training new inspectors by demonstrating proper inspection techniques, use of measuring tools, and documentation practices.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support overall production and quality objectives.
  • Follow company rules, procedures, and quality standards at all times to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Essential Skills
  • 1 to 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with quality control or manufacturing processes, including familiarity with production workflows and inspection points.
  • Ability to read and understand basic written instructions and English documents related to work orders, specifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic computations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Proficiency in accurately using standard measuring tools such as rulers, calipers, micrometers, force gauges, tape measures, and other measurement instruments.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings, blueprints, and work specification sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high accuracy standards in all inspection and documentation tasks.
  • Capability to identify nonconformances and communicate quality issues clearly to supervisors and production personnel.
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise and physical activity.

  • Familiarity with ITAR-related environments and requirements.
  • Experience with upholstery, apparel manufacturing, industrial sewing, or related textile production processes.
  • Experience working around or operating sewing machines in a production setting.
  • Comfort using measurement tools in both mechanical and textile contexts.
  • Ability to collaborate with bilingual colleagues and work effectively in a multilingual workforce.
  • Willingness to work overtime, including extended weekday hours and frequent Saturday shifts, as production needs require.

Work Environment

The position involves frequent walking around the production area, as well as periods of sitting at or near sewing machines and inspection stations. The standard schedule is 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the flexibility to work up to 4:30 p.m. and frequent Saturday shifts of 6 to 8 hours, depending on production needs. The environment supports employees who can understand basic written instructions, and many bilingual coworkers are available to assist with communication as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.45 - $20.64/hr.
