Job description

Scaled Composites is seeking a Project Scheduler, internally referred to as Business Management Analyst (BMA), to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role provides critical support to Project Managers (PMs) by maintaining program reporting, updating schedules, and performing financial analysis. The PM defines the structure and strategy; the BMA ensures accurate execution and timely updates across MS Project schedules, earned value reporting, and financial forecasts.

Summary

Founded by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Scaled Composites is a 40+ year-old aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. We have flown an average of one new aircraft type per year over our 41-year history such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to

  • Support PBMs by updating and maintaining MS Project Schedules with current progress inputs, milestones, and dependencies. 
  • Ensure schedule accuracy and alignment with PBM-defined structure; assist with re-baselining when directed. 
  • Populate and maintain Earned Value (EV/EVMS) reports; calculate and explain variances as needed
  • Contribute to EVMS integration into ERP systems to enhance data accuracy, streamline cost and schedule reporting, and support program performance visibility.
  • Ensure data integrity between schedule, budget, and performance metrics. 
  • Maintain and update budget forecasts, cash flow projections, and cost tracking based on PBM guidance. 
  • Perform variance analysis (actual vs. forecast) and provide supporting details for leadership reviews. 
  • Assist with preparing programmatic reports for both internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Support PBMs with staffing forecasts and material purchase order tracking.
  • Monitor expenditures and reconcile with program controls. 
  • Prepare and maintain monthly health reports, dashboards, and supporting documentation for the PBM’s and management. 
  • Assist with ad hoc analysis and special projects as directed. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business (Business Administration, Project Management, Management and Organizational Leadership, Operations Management), Finance, Accounting or related field; with 3 or more years of experience. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivots, lookups) and ability to become proficient in MS project quickly. 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to interpret data accurately. 
  • Familiarity with budgeting concepts, earned value mechanics, and basic financial analysis. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD secret Clearance. 

Essential Functions:

  • Requires mobility and the ability to bend and reach 
  • May infrequently require lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling materials weighing up to 30 pounds. 
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required; repetitive hand motion (e.g., to operate computer keyboard) 
  • Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus for prolonged periods (i.e., computer screen)
  • Ability to remain sedentary or stationary for prolonged periods of time 
  • Ability to write for extended periods of time 
  • Ability to work in an office setting for prolonged periods of time
  • May be asked to carry up to 20 lbs. up and down a flight of stairs on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. 
  • Occasional reaching overhead and lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to converse and communicate information with others
  • Occasional exposure to chemical vapors and/or fumes in low non-hazardous concentration
  • Potential to climb up and down steps on a daily basis
  • Must be able to read and understand SDS
