Job description

Title: Hot Forge - This job is located in Houston, TX and relocation costs are negotiable.

About HPF: Houston Precision Fasteners produces high strength, fatigue rated, close tolerance fasteners using materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, nickel alloy, titanium, waspaloy, A-286, monel and multiphase. Our fasteners have supported mission aircrafts such as; Joint Strike Fighters, F/A 18 Super Hornet, and Falcon 9; just to name a few. We are dedicated to providing a superior product to our customers.

Job Purpose: Candidates are required to operate a punch press with induction heating to hot forge heads for high strength, close tolerance aerospace fasteners. It will be necessary to monitor temperature of induction heater, apply necessary lube, and feed bolt in and out of punch press. Ability to lead a team with minimal instruction.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

· Read routers to determine specified tolerances and sequences of operations for machine setup

· Operate forging machines to perform hot forging to taper, shape, or form metal

· Measure and inspect machined parts to ensure conformance to product specifications

· Adjust punch press set ups under nominal supervision

· Keep accurate counts and documentation for all jobs in production software

· Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures

· Make decisions and solve problems through analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution


Professional Skills:

· HS diploma or equivalent

· 3 or more years of related experience in Forging

· Experience managing and directing a function or department

· Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods including knowledge of forging processes and forge set-ups that have complex dimensions such as protrusions and wrenching height

· Basic knowledge of arithmetic, and conversions of measurements

· Advanced knowledge of heat setting materials

· Follow all company safety rules, company rules, policies and procedures as well as any applicable work instructions, specifications and requirements

Physical Requirements and Working Condition:

· Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, and ladders

· Must be able to work at heights utilizing fall protection equipment (man lifts, ladders, and stand)

· Must be able to lift up to 45lbs

· Subject to environmental conditions -protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes

· Subject to hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals

· Subject to loud constant noise

· Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation
