Job description

Steelcrest Precision (formally Wauseon Machine) is currently looking for a full-time Aerospace Estimating & Program Engineer to join their growing team.

Assigned to Project Management and Engineering responsibilities across our newest and most strategic Aerospace Customers. These customers represent a strategic effort to focus on Aerospace customers and the unique requirements that their machining needs represent.

  • Primary focus will be winning quotes and proposals with these customers, as well as managing first run parts ("Book it, then Cook it" then transition it to operations production). We expect execution on these items will assist in winning more work with the customer.
  • Lead cross functional teams if needed to gather RFQ data (material pricing, coatings and other out processes) for critical aerospace customers.
  • Manage periodized list of critical first run aerospace parts and interface with Operations, Procurement and Engineering to drive accountability.
  • Identify, decipher and flow down unique aerospace customers and regulatory requirements for each order housed in Purchase Orders, Drawings and Parts Lists (contract Review) for our most critical aerospace customers.
  • Interface with customers to seek out assistance and help in RFQ and Manufacturing, as well as instill confidence while being the technical point of contact, as well asprovider of project and delivery updates.
  • Finally, AS9100 compliant procedures exist within Steelcrest for the processes and tasks described above. This role will complete the responsibilities above and drive a cross functional team with prioritization and bias action, however, do it within these existing processes.

Success Metrics:

RFQ Response Speed (3-4 Days, faster for simpler jobs)

Speed from PO receipt to Routings hitting Floor (2-3 days)

Speed for First Run parts (4-6 Weeks)

Win% of Aerospace RFQ's (40%-60%)

Aerospace Customer Attrition (<5%)

Qualifications:

Know the Aerospace Machined parts industry and be able to communicate effectively with the customer on the technical as well as commercial side of the business.

Strong Understanding of Aerospace Supply Chain as it pertains to machined component sales (ITAR, AS9100, FAI, Nadcap etc.)

Strong understanding of machine manufacturing (Turning, Milling, Grinding, EDM, CNC, etc.).

Familiarity of how to read and interpret Drawings, Blue Prints and Parts Lists from Aerospace

OEM / Primes such as Gulfstream, Boeing, etc. (However, these will most likely be flow down from Tier 2's not the Primes)

5+ years of success in Aerospace Industry
