Job description

Position Summary

Complete Equipment Rentals is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Mechanic to oversee the maintenance, repair, and readiness of our fleet of aerial construction equipment. The Lead Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, leading shop technicians, and ensuring all equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair aerial construction equipment, including boom lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers, and related machinery.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on all rental equipment.
  • Lead and mentor shop technicians, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Prioritize and coordinate repairs to maximize equipment uptime and rental availability.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all repairs are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently.
  • Maintain service records, repair documentation, and maintenance schedules.
  • Conduct equipment inspections prior to delivery and upon return from customers.
  • Enforce shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department and Operations team to ensure timely ordering and availability of parts and materials.
  • Assist with emergency field service calls when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment, aerial equipment, or construction equipment maintenance experience.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel-powered equipment systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Experience working with aerial equipment brands such as Genie, JLG, Skyjack, or similar manufacturers.
  • Equipment manufacturer certifications are a plus.
